Support for talented youth is the most important direction of the state youth policy in the Republic of Belarus. Creativity carries a huge potential for the development of the individual, its activity, increases the ability to develop non-standard solutions, original ideas, spiritually transforms the world.

The Belarusian National Technical University, along with significant achievements in the training of engineering, scientific and teaching staff, is also proud of its creative achievements in the field of culture.
Attention was paid to the aesthetic and spiritual development of students by the leadership of the university in the first decades of its formation (1920-30s). Students and teachers of the Belarusian Polytechnic Institute were given lectures on the problems of culture and art, meetings with poets, writers, and cultural figures were organized. So in 1935, a meeting with the people's writer Yakub Kolas took place, the 30th anniversary of the literary activity of the people's poet of Belarus Yanka Kupala was widely celebrated. Creative meetings were held with the participation of artists of the Belarusian State Conservatory. Lively and direct communication with talented people contributed to the aesthetic development, spiritual and moral growth of the students. In those years, drama, choral, string, and dance student groups worked. In the pre-war period, the organization of work related to amateur performances, among others, was handled by the later well-known Soviet composer Mark Fradkin. The war interrupted peaceful life, and there was only hope for the realization of creative ideas after the victory.
In November 1946, a student club was organized at the Belarusian Polytechnic Institute, thanks to which work was intensified to identify the creative abilities of students, the level of performing skills of amateur creative teams and the organization of cultural events increased. The first groups of amateur performances were organized: an orchestra of folk instruments (1946), a brass band (1948), a dance ensemble "Druzhba" (1951). Competitions between faculties began to be held at the BPI, this work became especially active in the 1970s . Since 1975, amateur art reviews have been renamed into the BPI Student Spring and BPI Student Autumn festivals. Festivals have changed but one thing remained unchanged - the desire to unlock the creative potential of students of a technical university. In 1994, the Center for Ethnography, Folklore and Crafts was established, which contributed to the introduction of students to the national and cultural traditions of Belarus and arts and crafts, through the organization of thematic and personal exhibitions, creative meetings and holidays of the calendar and ritual cycle.
In order to improve cultural and mass work, increase its significance and efficiency, improve the organization of cultural and leisure activities of students and employees and further their moral and aesthetic education in 2003, the Department of Culture was established at BNTU. The management included a student club, the Center for Ethnography, Folklore and Crafts, the Museum of the History of BNTU. In 2007, a new interuniversity competition of student films "Videoradius BNTU" debuted. The festival of student creativity "Spring BNTU" received further development.
In June 2011, the Department of Culture was reorganized into the Cultural, Educational, Historical and Educational Center (KPiIOC), which works in the field of aesthetic, moral and civil-patriotic education, provides leisure and develops the intellectual and creative abilities of young people.
One of the main activities of the center is to support and promote the creative initiative of students. KPIIOTS unites student creative formations, amateur associations. New modern forms of organizing and conducting creative projects are constantly being introduced.
Twelve groups of instrumental, choreographic, vocal and theatrical direction work in the department of artistic creativity. Six teams have the honorary title of "people's". The work of the teams has been repeatedly awarded diplomas of laureates at international and republican competitions. The creative work of BNTU teams is known not only in Belarus, but also abroad - in Russia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Lithuania, Norway, Turkey, Germany, Poland.
In 2016, the BNTU student club celebrated its 70th anniversary. Over the years, the student club has united tens of thousands of students, many of whom, after graduating from the university, are still active members of creative teams.
Every year we continue the creative traditions of our university, we translate new ideas and youth projects into the cultural life of BNTU students.
