The team was officially formed in 1946. Although, strictly speaking, the history of this team can begin in 1944, when Professor Iosif Iosifovich Zhinovich created the first student ensemble. The Orchestra of Folk Instruments is the "oldest" team of the university, one of the leading teams of BNTU.
The leader of the orchestra is the Honored Worker of Culture of the Republic of Belarus Romuald Yakovlevich Parmon. In the team since 1956, first as a member, and since 1964 as an artistic director and conductor.
In 1977, the orchestra of folk instruments was awarded the title of "folk".
The Folk Orchestra of Folk Instruments is the Laureate of the International Festival "European Musical Meetings" , as well as the Laureate of the International Festival in the city of Buchen (Germany).
In March 1997, the team successfully confirmed the title of "folk" within the framework of the city festival of folk art "Suzor'e" .
The folk orchestra of folk instruments is a regular participant in charity concerts for veterans of the Great Patriotic War, as well as other events held by the student club, the university and the city. In December 2000, the BSPA celebrated its 80th anniversary. As in all previous concerts, the orchestra took part with an hour-long program.
2001, January - the orchestra again successfully confirmed the honorary title of "folk" and received a Diploma of the II degree within the framework of the city festival of folk art "Suzor'e" . In December of the same year, the folk orchestra of folk instruments of the BNTU student club celebrated its 55th anniversary.
In recent years, a small composition of the orchestra of folk instruments has been working at many events.
2004, December - the orchestra confirmed the honorary title of "folk" within the framework of the city festival of folk art "Suzor'e" .
In 2011, the folk orchestra celebrated its 65th anniversary with a big solo concert. The team was awarded numerous certificates, diplomas and letters of thanks.
In January 2012, at the International Festival "We Are Together" in Brest, the folk orchestra of folk instruments and the ensemble of the folk orchestra of folk instruments received diplomas of Laureates of the 1st degree.
2013 - International Festival "Slavic Meetings" - the orchestra took the Grand Prix. At the city festival of folk art "Suzor'e" the team successfully confirmed the title of "folk" and received a Laureate Diploma.
On December 23, 2014, an anniversary evening dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the creative activity of the conductor of the orchestra, Romuald Yakovlevich Parmon, took place. A large concert program was presented to the attention of the audience, which included not only instrumental music, but also vocal works.
In April 2016, the team successfully performed at the competition of the Republican Festival of Student Creativity "Art Vakatsy" , where they received a Diploma of the II degree.
In December 2016, the folk orchestra of folk instruments celebrated its 70th anniversary.
February 5 , 2017 in the concert hall "Upper City" the orchestra demonstrated its skills at the festival of folk art "Suzor'e" , successfully confirmed the title of "folk" and was awarded the Diploma of the II degree.
In September 2017, the participation of the ensemble of the folk instruments orchestra in the instrumental skill competition of the Belarusian-Chinese youth art festival "One Belt - One Road" was successful , where the ensemble was awarded the 1st degree Diploma.
In November, the orchestra performed in a concert within the framework of the International Forum - the Third Belarusian Christmas Readings "Moral Values and the Future of Humanity".
On the eve of the New Year holidays, the orchestra performed a concert program "Waltz, waltz, waltz ...", which became a kind of digression into the history of the development of the waltz as an instrumental genre.
In April 2018, a concert of the creative teams of the BNTU "The land of May, the joy of May, the song of May is young!" within the framework of the Republican festival of artistic creativity of pupils and students "Art-vakatsy i ". As a result of the festival, the orchestra was awarded the Diploma of the 1st degree.
In December 2018, on the eve of the New Year and Christmas holidays, the orchestra performed a concert program "Melodies for All Seasons". Throughout the evening, classical and contemporary music, folk music, fragments from the opera "Carmen", romances, melodies from famous Soviet films were played.
On March 15, 2020, the orchestra with an updated program performed at the city festival of folk art "Suzor'e" , where it successfully confirmed the title of "folk" and received a 3rd degree Diploma.
For many years, the orchestra has been the base of the educational practice of the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts and the Minsk State Musical College named after. M.I. Glinka.
The activities of the folk orchestra of folk instruments contribute to the popularization of Belarusian, Russian and modern music, as well as the preservation and development of the traditions of Belarusian musical art.
