The Department of Electrical Engineering and Electronics has undergone many transformations in its history. Initially, in 1938, it was only the first electrical engineering laboratory. Then, in 1947, the Department of Theoretical and General Electrical Engineering was organized. One of the outstanding theorists of electrical engineering, Professor G.I. Atabekov. He permanently lived in Moscow and worked at the Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI), and came to Minsk to give lectures, organize educational and scientific work, and supervise graduate students. Later, in 1950, Ph.D., Associate Professor of the Moscow Power Engineering Institute (MPEI) A.I. Sobolev. During this period, a talented teacher and scientist, Ph.D., associate professor D.M. Minkovsky, as well as graduates of the BPI, who later headed the departments and universities of the republic: Ph.D., associate professor V. M. Ilyin (Rector of MRTI in 1973-2000), Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor A.A. . Bladyko, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor V.S. Kakhanovich. Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor I.A. Fedorova headed the Department of TOE of the Minsk Radio Engineering Institute. Later, the Department of Theoretical Foundations of Electrical Engineering (TOE) of the BPI was headed by Ph.D., Associate Professor V.M. Bladyko (1973–1987); Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor V.S. Kahanovich (1987–1992); Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor, L.I. Sonchik (1992–1998). In 1977, the Department of General Electrical Engineering was separated from the general department, headed by the head of Ph.D., associate professor V.N. Gorbaruk.
Employees of the department conducted classes at all faculties, with the exception of the specialties of the electric power profile of the energy faculty. The rapid development of electronics and microelectronics, strengthening the priority of these disciplines in the training of engineering personnel led to a change in the name of the department. It became known as the Department of Electrical Engineering and Electronics. From 1983 to 1996, the department was headed by Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor T.T. Rozum is a very energetic and proactive leader. The department received a powerful impetus for the development of scientific and laboratory facilities in industrial electronics, microelectronics, microprocessor and converter technology. Educational laboratories were replenished with modern equipment, devices and multi-purpose stands. To replace T.T. Rozum in 1996 came to Ph.D., associate professor I.V. Novash, who headed the department until 2007. During this period, the department established the direction of mathematical modeling of electromagnetic processes and their study by the method of computational experiment on a computer. In the educational process, computer mathematical packages and dynamic modeling systems began to be used. In 1998, the two departments "Theoretical Foundations of Electrical Engineering" and "Electrical Engineering and Electronics" were merged. From 2007 to 2021, the post of head of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Electronics was held by Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Yu.V. Bladyko. The staff of the department (Photo 2) is characterized as experienced and professional. It is represented by candidates of sciences, associate professors V.D. Ezhov, I.P. Matveenko, I.V. Novash, S.V. Sizikov, Yu.V. Sukhodolov, I.L. Sweet. Senior lecturers include T.E. Zhukovskaya, G.A. Mikhaltsevich, L.I. Novikova, E.I. Germanovich, V.V. Zelenko, O.A. Pekarchik, E.V. Myshkovets, N.V. Shvedko, E.V. Bondarenok, O.S. Shauro.
Assistants V.A. work at the department. Mukhina. For students of the Faculty of Energy, teachers of the department give basic theoretical courses on electrical engineering and industrial electronics, metrology, standardization and information and measurement technology, which form the basic knowledge for the effective study of special disciplines. For students of non-energy specialties, the department teaches various courses in electrical engineering, electronics, microprocessor technology, electrical equipment, etc., without which it is impossible to prepare a modern erudite engineer in any technical specialty. A complete portal for students in electronics http://elektronik.by has been created A large amount of work on conducting training sessions and maintaining equipment and devices in proper condition is performed by laboratories V.S. Balabanov, leading engineer A.A. Bondarenko, engineer of the 2nd category T.S. Savko, 1st category technician I.N. Mikhnevich, engineer R.G. Marchik. The department has developed and maintains two websites: http://electro.bntu.by and http://elektronik.by Highly qualified teachers of the department were sent to work in foreign universities in Algeria, Uganda, Cuba, trained in England and Germany. The Department of "Electrical Engineering and Electronics" is the only general technical department that provides the educational process in electrical disciplines at all faculties of BNTU.
