The curricula provide for an in-depth study of microeconomics and macroeconomics, management, marketing, economics and organization of energy, economics of energy conservation, and management of an energy enterprise. Future economic engineers also study natural science and general technical disciplines: higher mathematics, engineering and computer graphics, computer science and network technologies, and databases, thermal engineering and electrical engineering disciplines, and a number of other economic and engineering disciplines.
The work of energy enterprises in modern conditions is inextricably linked with the export and import of energy resources, energy equipment, which requires graduates of the department to have fundamental knowledge in the field of investment design, world economy and foreign economic activity, economics of non-traditional and renewable energy sources, cost accounting, logistics, government regulation in the field of energy efficiency.

The training of energy engineers in this specialty is carried out by the Department of Thermal Power Plants. Training is conducted on a full-time basis with the qualification of “energy engineer”.
During the training process, students receive in-depth theoretical training in fundamental disciplines and acquire the necessary knowledge on the entire technological scheme of electrical energy production at nuclear power plants. Subsequently, students study in more depth the equipment of steam turbine units, technical water supply systems, condensing units, etc.
Students also receive basic knowledge of nuclear physics, the operation of nuclear power reactors, radiation safety and the management of radioactive waste from nuclear power plants.
Disciplines are taught by both full-time teachers of the department and invited scientists and highly qualified specialists in this field of knowledge.
To consolidate theoretical knowledge, students in junior courses undergo practical training at traditional thermal power plants, and in senior years - in foreign educational and training centers and nuclear power plants.
Graduates of this specialty, after being assigned to work at nuclear power plants, undergo special training on simulators in educational training centers and at operating nuclear power plants. The period of this study depends on the intended position of the specialist in the nuclear power plant system. In addition, the specialty curriculum includes disciplines related to the operation of the main equipment of thermal power plants. This makes it possible for graduates of this specialty to also work at thermal power plants.
Many graduates of the department, who previously received the qualification of an energy engineer, have made and are making a successful career at foreign nuclear power plants, and are being retrained to work at the Belarusian nuclear power plant.

Training is conducted through full-time and part-time abbreviated forms of higher education with the qualification of “energy engineer”. During their studies, students receive in-depth theoretical and practical training in disciplines related to the production, distribution and consumption of electrical energy, and master computer modeling skills. This allows graduates of the department to work independently in the field of design, installation, adjustment and operation of electrical devices at industrial enterprises of various profiles, as well as in design and scientific and technical institutes.

The need for energy engineers trained at the department significantly exceeds the number of graduates.
