"Power engineers must be energetic." 1971 graduates met at BNTU

«Энергетики должны быть энергичны». В БНТУ встретились выпускники 1971 года

Today, on June 27, the BNTU hosted a reunion of 1971 graduates of the Faculty of Power Engineering. For more than half a century, these people have been connected by their alma mater, and every five years they gather at their alma mater to reminisce about their student years, their beloved professors, and to walk through the classrooms that became their second home 55 years ago.

For the graduates, this is not just a reunion, but a return to their youth. They share their memories, recognize each other with familiar jokes and smiles, as if five decades have not passed since their graduation. Grigory Melnichenko, a 1971 graduate of the Faculty of Energy, said:

— These meetings are traditional. Every time you come, you feel younger, because you're immersed in that era. At first, you see that things have changed, but then you realize that the same jokes and words are still there. After these meetings, you always come back inspired. I greatly appreciate them. As our dean, Alexander Rutskoy, once said, "Energy professionals must be energetic." We are exploring this ourselves.

Visiting the laboratories was a particularly touching moment. The graduates were surprised and smiled when they recognized the familiar electromechanical relays. However, there was also a touch of sadness. It is becoming increasingly difficult to gather a full group each time, as age, illness, and long distances take their toll. However, those who have come do not allow themselves to be discouraged. They joke, recall funny incidents from their practical training, sing student songs, and look forward to the future with optimism.

— We remain optimistic. We have carried the spirit of student brotherhood throughout our lives. It does not fade," said Georgy Melnichenko.

BNTU is rightfully proud of its graduates. Those who once took their first steps into science and technology are always welcome at the university. As long as there are such meetings, memory and continuity, the profession and the university will live on.
