Today, on June 18, the Belarusian National Technical University became a large-scale platform for strengthening Belarusian-Chinese academic ties. A series of meetings with representatives of leading educational institutions and organizations of the People's Republic of China covered a wide range of areas, from joint scientific research to the launch of new educational programs.
One of the key events was the negotiations with the delegation of the China International Educational Foundation and the administration of the Northeastern University. On the BNTU side, the event was attended by Vice-rector for Ideological and Educational Work Timur Matyushinets, Vice-rector for Academic Affairs Yuri Nikolaichyk, and heads of the BNTU Confucius Institute for Science and Technology (from the Belarusian side) Vladimir Kleenkov and (from the Chinese side) Li Wenxue.
The parties paid special attention to the prospects for the development of the China + Technology model. Among her priorities are the creation of four annual scientific and technical brand events, the relocation and reconstruction of the institute's new premises, and the attraction of additional funding. The Chinese side confirmed its readiness to support the institute in its future development, emphasizing the importance of training specialists who are proficient in both advanced technologies and the Chinese language.
Discussions were also held with a delegation from Tianjin University, represented by Assistant Rector for International Cooperation Xiao Songshan, Professor of the School of Civil Engineering Yao Wei, and Manager of International Cooperation Programs He Shennen. From the BNTU side, Vice-rector for Academic Affairs Yuri Nikolaichik, Dean of FGDE Andrey Kologrivko and Deputy Dean of SF Pavel Statkevich took part in the discussion.
The parties discussed three key areas: academic exchange of students and teachers, organization of training in unique narrow-profile disciplines in the field of ecology, as well as joint scientific research in the field of construction, mining and artificial intelligence. Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on the preparation of a cooperation agreement for subsequent signing.
On this day, a delegation from the North China Power Engineering University (NSEU), one of the leading specialized universities in China, met with the leadership of the BNTU Faculty of Energy. The Chinese side was represented by Qianqian Li, Head of the International Exchange Department, and Hanwen Ren, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. The interests of BNTU were represented by Evgeny Ponomarenko, Dean of the Faculty of Energy, Igor Migutsky, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Energy, and Nikolai Vishnyakov, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of International Cooperation.
During the negotiations, the parties discussed the organization of joint educational programs, the possibility of inviting BNTU professors to give lectures to Chinese students at the SKEU, and the exchange of academic experience. In the near future, the parties plan to work out an agreement on cooperation between the universities.
However, the series of meetings did not end there, as BNTU was visited by a delegation from the Language Exchange and Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, led by Director Yu Yunfeng. The purpose of the delegation's visit was to discuss further plans for the development of the Confucius Institute for Science and Technology at BNTU. Timur Matyushinets, Vladimir Kleyenkov, and Li Wenxue took part in the working meeting.
Representatives of the BNTU spoke about the current activities of the institute, noting that the university has become the platform with the largest number of participants in the Chinese language exam in Belarus, and the promotion of the "Chinese Language + Science and Technology" brand is the basis of work for the current five-year period. The Chinese side assured that the institute can count on additional support and emphasized the importance of exchange programs for Belarusian students.
The meetings demonstrated a high level of mutual interest between the Belarusian and Chinese sides and their desire to deepen their partnership. By strengthening its position as one of the key centers of Belarusian-Chinese educational and scientific-technical cooperation, BNTU is not resting on its laurels and is boldly setting new goals.
