In the run-up to the 2026 admissions campaign, we continue to tell you about the faculties of the Belarusian National Technical University. Next up is the Energy Faculty (EF).
The Faculty of Energy is one of the oldest faculties at the university, with a wealth of experience in training engineering and scientific-pedagogical personnel in the field of electric and thermal power engineering.
Graduates of the Faculty of Energy are in demand at power plants, in electric and thermal networks, and in design, installation, and repair organizations. Specialists trained at the faculty are employed in the housing and public utilities system, in industry, and even in agriculture.

Evgeny Ponomarenko, Dean of the Faculty of Energy, shared:
— Currently, the faculty consists of 7 departments and 2 research units. The faculty has more than 2,200 students, including more than 1,500 full-time students and more than 700 part-time students. The main areas of study are electrical engineering, thermal engineering, nuclear engineering, and energy economics. The number of applications per graduate ranges from two to four. The main customers of personnel are Belenergo, including all electrical and thermal networks, power plants and substations, design, installation, commissioning, and repair organizations, as well as all industrial enterprises, housing and communal services, and agriculture. Energy specialists are needed everywhere! The main advantage of the faculty is the unconditional demand for the profession. Practice is carried out at the enterprises that are the customers of personnel, including at the workplaces. For certain specialties, there is a practice abroad.

At BNTU, every student has the opportunity to realize themselves in any field and demonstrate their skills both on stage and on the sports field, in addition to their academic studies. The Faculty of Energy is a prime example of this.
In 2026, the Faculty of Energy set the tone for creativity, as students were awarded first-degree diplomas in the Song and STEM Festival and third-degree diplomas in the Video Presentation Contest at the BNTU Spring Festival. At the end of all four days, the Faculty of Energy took first place, sharing it with the Faculty of Information Technology and Robotics and the Faculty of Management Technologies and Humanitarization.

The students also participated in the photography competition, where Victoria Nazarova, a student from the Faculty of Energy, took second place in the "Landscape" category.

The students of the Faculty of Energy were not only successful in the creative field. In the 2025/26 academic year's student sports competition, the faculty's team won first place in futsal and volleyball, as well as taking bronze in basketball.


In addition, at the XXXII Republican Competition of Students' Research Papers, two research papers by students of the Faculty of Energy were awarded: Evgeny Shman and Artem Lesot on the application of blockchain technology in the energy sector, and Maria Natalevich and Alexandra Falchenko on the development strategy for Belarusian energy system enterprises in the context of creating a common energy market in the EAEU.
