Today, on July 14, the main stage of submitting documents for admission to BNTU continues. The numbers are impressive, with 1,740 people submitting documents in two days. It would seem that once you've collected the necessary documents and submitted your application, you can breathe a sigh of relief. However, in practice, even the most diligent applicants and their parents often encounter problems at the final stage of the application process.
According to Yulia Medvedeva, Deputy Executive Secretary of the FES Admissions Committee, many applicants and their parents still underestimate the importance of properly completing the application process.
One of the most common mistakes is related to the medical certificate, specifically the incorrect specification of the desired field of study in the application. Applicants often focus only on one desired field and do not take into account the mechanism of the so-called "flow" of budget places. As a result, a formal inaccuracy or lack of attention can cost you a coveted place on the list of admitted students. Applicants sometimes write only what they want, but it is not always the case that they end up in the field they initially planned. This can result in not being admitted due to the redistribution of places.
However, there is a less obvious but crucial aspect that not everyone is aware of. Graduates of engineering classes are eligible for preferential admission, including to the most in-demand specialties in the economy.
– We have just been approached by a family who was unaware of this opportunity after graduating from an engineering class. We offer two specialties: “Construction of Buildings and Structures. Hydraulic Engineering” and “Construction of Buildings and Structures. Construction of Buildings and Structures in Thermal and Nuclear Power Engineering.” They can enroll without a competitive exam.

There are several specialties at the Faculty of Energy: electrical engineering, electrical engineering, thermal engineering, and thermal engineering. Each specialty has its own subspecialties, and applicants often do not understand the essence of each specialty.
– They randomly assign subspecialties because they are participating in a group of specialties. They mix electrical with thermal, and there is no system. I advise you to study each profile in advance," Ekaterina Korsak explained.
If an applicant wants to participate in a competition for a group of specialties, you must specify the entire list of directions. The wider it is, the greater the chances of admission.
– Many applicants do not even know that they are eligible for admission without entrance tests. I advise you to check the current list of preferential categories on the website of the admissions committee. The gold medalists are already aware, but when it was first introduced, many people did not know. Silver medalists generally think that this is a separate category, although in fact they have the same conditions, – said Ekaterina Pavlovna.
Applicant Victoria enters the Faculty of Energy with a gold medal, which just gives the right to preferential admission.
– I decided to enter this faculty because I really liked the field that is offered here. I was told a lot about EF, and the energy industry is now actively developing in Belarus. I want to contribute to the country's economy. BNTU is a leading technical university, and I first learned about it when its representatives came to our school. I was interested in learning about the different fields of study, and I particularly remember the Faculty of Energy.
Traditionally, technical fields of study were considered male-dominated, but every year, more and more women are choosing to study engineering and have a clear understanding of what they want to achieve. One example is Victoria, an aspiring student who chose the Faculty of Management Technology and Humanization at BNTU.
– I'm applying for the specialty "Engineering Economics". I chose BNTU because I studied in an engineering class, and university students often came to our school to conduct career guidance work. We also went on excursions. In addition, my mother once studied here.
When asked if she was afraid of going to an engineering university, Victoria replied:
– No, I'm not afraid. I learned about BNTU from the students, who told me a lot about the university's education and opportunities. Now I am entering without entrance tests and this gives me more confidence.
