FITR Celebrates the 105th Anniversary of the Belarusian National Technical University

ФИТР отметил 105-летие Белорусского национального технического университета

On December 11, 2025, the Faculty of Information Technologies and Robotics hosted festive events dedicated to the University’s 105th anniversary, bringing together students, faculty members, honored veterans, partner organizations, and guests. The jubilee evening was not merely a celebration, but a vivid confirmation that BNTU’s traditions live on in deeds, people, and ideas—from respect for the scientific school to bold technological projects.

One of the key events of the day was the naming of the teaching laboratory of the “Robotic Systems” department after Gennady Ivanovich Khutsky—Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, the first Dean of FITR at that time, and a founder of the scientific field of robotic systems. In the welcome address, the host подчеркнул that this decision is a sign of recognition of the scientist’s tremendous contribution to engineering education and to the training of generations of specialists whose achievements strengthen the University’s authority. The laboratory will become a space where practical work and research go hand in hand, while the memory of the mentor inspires new generations.

The right to officially open the laboratory was granted to BNTU Vice-Rector Vasily Anatolyevich Alekseenko, FITR Deputy Dean Bazhena Alexandrovna Badak, and a special invited guest Natalia Khutskaya (daughter of Gennady Ivanovich). After the ceremony, guests had the opportunity to see the laboratory, talk informally over tea, and then continued the celebration at the ceremonial meeting of the Faculty Council.

The ceremonial Faculty Council meeting began with a vibrant performance by the folk song ensemble “Kakhanachka,” followed by greetings and words of gratitude to those who have created and continue to create the history of BNTU.

With a welcoming speech and the presentation of awards, BNTU Vice-Rector Vasily Anatolyevich Alekseenko emphasized the importance of the faculty and the relevance of training specialists who contribute to the country’s technological development and digital transformation, closely linking the educational process with real challenges of industry and science.

The Rector’s Letter of Appreciation was awarded to: Evgeny Mikhailovich Robilko, Deputy Dean for Ideological and Educational Work; Anton Mikhailovich Zholud, Senior Lecturer of the “Technical Physics” department; and Natalia Vladimirovna Romanyuk, Head of the “Software of Information Systems and Technologies” laboratory.

With a congratulatory address and the presentation of letters of appreciation to faculty staff, Irina Sergeyevna Vakhtina, Chair of the Primary Trade Union Organization of BNTU employees, highlighted the main idea of the anniversary: a strong university is built on unity across generations and respect for everyone who plays their part in the common cause.

As part of the official program, a report by Deputy Dean Bazhena Alexandrovna was heard, presenting the faculty’s achievements and plans, and awards were presented to the best employees, honored veterans, and students—as a symbol of gratitude for their work, dedication, and contribution to the faculty’s development.

The evening concluded with a concert program featuring dance and musical performances, poetry, and the national color of the cymbaly. This celebration became an important step in strengthening the faculty’s and the University’s scientific and educational potential, while the opening of the named laboratory became a symbol of continuity, dignity, and forward movement—toward new developments, discoveries, and victories for the benefit of BNTU and our country.
