Presentation of the Department of RTS
The history of the department begins in 1980, on the basis of the department "Metal-cutting machines and tools" at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, the department "Automation and complex mechanization of mechanical engineering" was formed. The organizer, the first head of the department, Doctor of Technical Sciences - Hutsky Gennady Ivanovich. An industry research laboratory was immediately created at the department.
In 1983, the first faculty in the CIS "Robots and Robotic Systems" was organized, and the department became the base at this faculty. Hutsky G.I. was appointed dean of the faculty. The specialty "Automation and complex mechanization of mechanical engineering" was transformed into a broader specialty "Automation of technological processes and production" with a number of specializations. At the department, with the permission of the Union Ministry of Higher Education, a new specialty for Belarus "Robotics" appeared. The department began to be called "Robotics and Automation", and was later transformed into the department "Robotic Systems".
The composition of the modern department has 21 people. The teaching staff of the department conducts a teaching load in general technical and special disciplines, carries out current control and attestation of students, provides methodological, organizational aspects of the implementation of the training program (organization of practices, graduation and course design).
Currently, the department trains specialists in 2 specialties: specialty 6-05-0713-04 "Automation of technological processes and production", specialty 6-05-0713-05 "ROBOTIC SYSTEMS". The presence at the department of a master's degree in the specialty 7-06-0713-04 "Automation", postgraduate and doctoral studies in the specialty 05.13.06 "Automation and control of technological processes and industries" opens up the opportunity for graduates to gain in-depth knowledge in specialties and expand their professional horizons.
The department prepares foreign specialists of with the teaching of disciplines in English and carries out joint educational programs with higher educational institutions of Uzbekistan.
Over the 40 years of its existence, the department has trained several thousand highly qualified engineers working in various areas of the national economy, scientific and technical laboratories. Candidate's dissertations Novichikhin R.V., Skachek V.A., Svidersky G.S., Kulakov A.T., Khusid successfully defended at the department. E.M., Zhuravleva E.R.
During the existence of the department, 8 specialized educational laboratories were created, equipped with modern training stands, microprocessor installations, industrial controllers, industrial robots, additive systems, process control systems. Laboratories are equipped with modern multimedia equipment, interactive whiteboards. For the entire period of study, each student has access to modern computers, which makes it possible to gain programming skills and work with specialized software products, such as ANSYS, SOLIDWORKS, AutoCAD, MatLab, SCADA systems, DBMS, etc. The introduction of software programs into the educational process is actively underway. Siemens products. The use of modern software and hardware systems in the educational process makes it possible to train qualified specialists for the industry of our Republic. Specialists of commercial companies involved in the development of automation systems and robotics are involved in teaching.
In 2019, on the basis of TECHNIKON LLC, a branch of the department "Robotic Systems". The branch was created in order to provide a practice-oriented approach in the training of specialists in the areas of specialties of the department; consolidation of theoretical and practical knowledge, professional competencies of students; use of the scientific and production base for the implementation of research work; organization of continuous practical training of students of 1-4 courses and regular passage by students of all types of practices; holding scientific and practical conferences, seminars, open lectures, consultations; organization of coursework, diploma and master's works; organization of internships, professional development of the faculty of the department.
For many years, the Department of RTS has been an expert and organizer of international scientific and technical conferences, seminars, webinars in the field of automation of technological processes and production. The department has published a number of monographs, teaching aids, teaching and learning complexes in the field of automation and robotics. The teachers of the department are permanent members of the jury in the republican competitions in robotics among students of educational institutions of the Republic of Belarus. Since 2020, the teachers of the department have been curators of the Robotics profile of the program of additional education for gifted children and youth of the National Children's Technopark.
Automation engineer, electromechanical engineer - professions that no industry in the Republic can do without. Moreover, as technological progress develops, the importance of these specialists will only increase. Hence the great interest shown by enterprises to our graduates. First of all, large enterprises, where a large number of people and equipment are involved in production. The Department of RTS actively cooperates in the field of robotics, automation, intelligent systems with leading enterprises of the Republic of Belarus and foreign enterprises. A number of Belarusian and international companies, such as BKM Holding, European Electrotechnical Company, Rozum Robotics, Vector Technologies LLC, FESTO, have shown interest in cooperation with the department.
The department takes an active part in the international European educational programs ERASMUS +. Within the framework of the project "Applied training programs in the field of space research and intelligent robotic systems" (APPLE), teachers of the department underwent internships at European universities in Germany, Latvia, Belgium.
The profile of the department is associated with one of the most relevant areas of technological progress - automation of production and robotics, and involves teaching students modern methods of mathematical modeling, programming, the use of computer technology, as well as methods of control, management, automation of technological processes and production in industry, active work is underway for the creation and development of unmanned aerial vehicles.
