At FITR, there was a lecture-presentation 'You're a Student: How Studying Works'

Об учебном процессе в вузе и деятельности студсовета поговорили с первокурсниками на ФИТР

On September 4, 2026, a lecture-presentation entitled “You Are a Student: How Studies Work” was held for first-year students of the Faculty of Information Technologies and Robotics. The meeting was organized and conducted by Elizaveta Averyanova, Chair of the FITR Student Council.

The event was held in an open-dialogue format and brought together an active student audience interested in making a successful start to their academic journey. The lecture was not simply an introduction to the learning process, but a full-fledged guide to the opportunities that BNTU offers its students.

In her presentation, the speaker covered the key aspects of the educational process at BNTU, including the structure of curricula, the credit system, the specifics of examination sessions, and ways of communicating with the faculty administration. Special attention was paid to time management and the psychological adaptation of first-year students to a new pace of life.

However, the central theme of the lecture was the phrase used as the Student Council’s slogan: “More Than Just Studying.” The Chair of the Student Council emphasized that university life is not limited to lectures and exams, but represents a whole environment for personal and professional growth.

A separate part of the presentation was devoted to the activities of the BNTU Student Council, which brings together students from all 16 faculties as one close-knit team. Elizaveta introduced the first-year students to the key projects and events organized by the student community:

“Polyquest” — an interactive introductory event for first-year students that helps them discover the opportunities offered by the university in a game-based format;

“Studintensive” and “BNTU Student Session” — youth forums aimed at developing leadership, creative, and communication skills;

“Polytech Team Cup” — a competition designed to strengthen team spirit and connections between faculties;

The “Best Academic Group of BNTU” competition, where students demonstrate true unity and teamwork;

The pilot project “BNTU Remembers. We Keep the Memory in Our Hearts”, aimed at preserving historical memory and fostering an active civic position;

• The charity initiatives “BNTU Students for Children” and “BNTU Students for Veterans”, which have become a valued tradition of the university.

The presentation also introduced the activities of Studmedia, a platform where anyone can try their hand at content creation — from humorous memes and horoscopes to serious photo and video reports. Special attention was also given to the travels of the student community, including, for example, a trip 150 km beyond the Arctic Circle, which vividly demonstrated that student life extends far beyond the classroom.

The lecture-presentation “You Are a Student: How Studies Work” became an important step in building a trusting dialogue between student self-government and first-year students. Participants gained not only practical knowledge about the educational process, but also a clear understanding of how they can use their energy and initiative to make their student years as eventful and productive as possible.

The BNTU Student Council is always open to new ideas and initiatives. Join us — together we are creating the future of BNTU!
