The Faculty of Information Technology and Robotics(FITR) was Established in 1983 as the Faculty of Robots and Robotic Systems, our faculty has a rich history rooted in three foundational departments of the Belarusian Polytechnic Institute: Higher Mathematics, Technical Physics, and Electric Drive and Automation of Industrial Installations and Technological Complexes, alongside the emerging department of Automation and Complex Mechanization.
From its inception, the faculty has been at the forefront of robotics education, offering pioneering programs such as "Automation of Technological Processes and Production" and "Automated Electric Drive", with specialized tracks in robotics. Today, we remain the leading center in the republic for training specialists in robotics.
In response to the evolving landscape of technology, our faculty has expanded its offerings to encompass the growing field of information technology and robotics. Our new name, the Faculty of Information Technology and Robotics, reflects our commitment to cutting-edge education and research in these fields.
Throughout our history, we have been fortunate to have visionary leadership. Notable deans include G.I. Khutsky (1983-1989), Yu.I. Matveev (1989-1994), R.A. Puko (1994-2009), and E.E. Trofimenko (2009-2019). Since April 2019, the faculty has been under the leadership of A.M. Avsieievich.
The Faculty of Information Technology and Robotics comprises five dynamic departments:
Our faculty is dedicated to advancing information technologies in education, science, and industry. Our research efforts are spearheaded by the Research and Innovation Laboratory of Production Automation.
