On September 29–30, 2026, the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Belarusian National Technical University (BNTU) held career guidance events for students of Secondary School No. 108 and Gymnasium No. 31 in Minsk. The meetings focused on modern mechanical engineering, digital technologies, manufacturing automation, and opportunities in engineering professions.

On September 29, students of Secondary School No. 108 visited the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology. As part of their visit, the students explored the Digital Mechanical Engineering Competence Center of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at BNTU.

Senior Lecturer Alexandra Alexandrovna Zverko introduced the students to the activities of the Competence Center, its main areas of work, and the role of digital technologies in training modern engineering professionals.
Trainee Lecturer Yana Olegovna Voynich spoke to the students about the main digital information and communication technologies used in modern manufacturing. Particular attention was paid to the fundamentals of computer modeling and prototyping, the characteristics of digital models, and the technologies used to create them. The students learned how modern software tools are used to develop digital models of future products and how these models are applied in the design and manufacturing processes.

On September 30, the Department welcomed students from Gymnasium No. 31. Senior Lecturer Anastasia Olegovna Grishchenko conducted a session entitled “Mechanical Engineering as the Basis for the Technological Development of All Industrial Sectors. Automation of Manufacturing and Assembly of Mechanical Engineering Products.”

During the theoretical part of the session, the students learned about current trends in industrial development, the digitalization of manufacturing processes, automation, and robotics. Particular attention was paid to the role of mechanical engineering in the development of various sectors of the economy and the importance of engineering professions in the context of rapid technological development.
Following the theoretical part, the students had an opportunity to apply their knowledge in practice. During a practical session in the computer-aided design system KOMPAS-3D, they learned the basics of creating a two-dimensional engineering drawing. Under the guidance of the lecturer, the students explored the main tools of the system and completed a practical assignment.

The events provided the students with an opportunity not only to gain new knowledge about modern manufacturing but also to become familiar with digital engineering technologies. The practical activities demonstrated how modern mechanical engineering combines knowledge of engineering and manufacturing technologies with computer modeling, computer-aided design, automation, and robotics.
Such events are an important part of the career guidance activities carried out by the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology. They help school students gain a better understanding of modern engineering professions and learn more about the educational opportunities available at BNTU.
