On 26 September 2026, the Faculty of Instrumentation once again opened its doors to students of the BNTU Lyceum. This time, classes were held in the laboratories of Building 17 for three classes — 11A, 11B, and 11C — as part of the faculty's systematic career guidance work with high school students.
For the students of class 11A, a rich programme was prepared, covering two key areas of modern instrumentation at once. In the laboratories of the Department of "Design and Production of Instruments," the head of the department, Andrey Savchenko, delivered a lecture on modern biomedical engineering, its modelling, and production. The topic of implants and endoprostheses — one of the most in-demand and socially significant areas of the faculty's work — aroused particular interest among the lyceum students.
The lesson for class 11A continued in the laboratories of the Department of "Micro- and Nanotechnology," where Associate Professor Dmitry Balokhonov conducted a practical session on "Photometric Parameters of LEDs." The school students not only learned about the physical principles of LED operation but also were able to independently perform measurements and analyse the results obtained.
For the students of classes 11B and 11C, Associate Professor Dmitry Balokhonov delivered a lecture titled "Instrumentation. Defining the Concepts of 'Nanotechnology' and 'Nanomaterials.'" In an accessible and engaging manner, the lyceum students were introduced to the fundamentals of nanotechnology, learned how nanomaterials differ from traditional ones, and how this knowledge is applied in modern instrumentation.
The classes held were another stage in the cooperation between the Faculty of Instrumentation and the BNTU Lyceum, aimed at early career guidance for school students and the formation of a sustained interest in engineering specialties. This format of work allows high school students not only to gain theoretical knowledge firsthand but also to experience the atmosphere of university science and production in practice.
