Today, October 2, the Military-Technical Faculty of the Belarusian National Technical University (BNTU) is hosting a major career guidance event titled "A Day in the Life of a Cadet." Young men and women from the 11th grade have taken on the role of cadets for the day.
A packed program has been prepared for the students, featuring swimming in the university pool, studying the technical specifications of small arms, and conducting practice firing with the PM pistol and AK-74 assault rifle using modern simulators. Hand-to-hand combat training for the participants was led by Alexander Arlachev, an instructor from the Faculty’s Department of Tactics and General Military Training.
During the event, the students will also work through training scenarios on the "Platoon in Defense" tactical simulator and attend practical lectures on the engineering munitions used by the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus.
"This initiative originated at our faculty over ten years ago. Today, students from schools across the country have joined us. The primary goal of the event is to familiarize them with the living, training, and support conditions provided to our cadets. The Belarusian National Technical University is a leader in technical education, and as a structural unit of the university, we can leverage all its advantages in our educational process to ensure high-level specialist training," said Igor Yankovsky, First Deputy Head of the BNTU Military-Technical Faculty.
One of the program's key features is that it creates conditions closely mirroring the actual training experienced by cadets at the faculty. For the duration of the event, participants are staying in the dormitory of the Military-Technical Faculty, allowing them to gain firsthand insight into the daily routine and living conditions of future officers.
"We will focus specifically on the daily lives and living arrangements of our cadets. Since they reside in a dedicated dormitory, they have access to their own sports grounds and academic building. The university administration is doing everything possible to ensure comfortable living conditions for them. To date, the dormitory has undergone a complete renovation, and a dedicated dining line has been set up for the cadets. Like all BNTU students, they can take full advantage of the university’s facilities—ranging from an Olympic-standard swimming pool to the modern equipment found in our research laboratories," added Igor Yankovsky.
The career guidance event runs until tomorrow, giving the schoolchildren an opportunity to gain an unforgettable experience. We wish the participants a wonderful time and a productive visit.
