A career guidance meeting with 10th- and 11th-grade students was held at Secondary School No. 12 in Lida with the participation of Yahor V. Pilipchuk, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology of the Belarusian National Technical University.
During the meeting, the students gained an understanding of modern mechanical engineering as one of the key branches of industry that determines the technological development of the country. It was noted that today engineering activity is closely connected with the digitalization of production, automation of technological processes, three-dimensional modeling, the use of computer numerical control machine tools, robotic systems, and additive technologies.
Particular attention was paid to study opportunities at the Mechanical Engineering Faculty of BNTU. The students were provided with information about academic programs, specializations, duration of study, and qualifications awarded to graduates. It was emphasized that the training of a modern engineer requires not only a strong theoretical foundation but also practical skills in design, production engineering, and the use of modern technical tools.
The students also became acquainted with examples of academic, project-based, and research activities carried out by university students and learned about the content of engineering education and career prospects after graduation. During the meeting, they actively asked questions about choosing a specialty, the differences between academic programs, the demand for engineering personnel, the specific features of studying at BNTU, and future employment opportunities.
A separate part of the discussion was devoted to admission issues. The students were informed about the admission rules at BNTU, the opportunities available to graduates of engineering classes, and the specific features of targeted training. They also received information about the application procedure, admission conditions, and the advantages provided by a conscious choice of engineering education already at the school stage.
The meeting aroused lively interest among the students and became an important step in their professional self-determination. Such events help future applicants become better acquainted with engineering specialties, better understand the content of their future profession, and make a more informed choice of their future educational path.
