On March 16, 2026, the Faculty of Instrumentation Engineering welcomed the engineering class from "Gymnasium No. 1 in Oshmyany": the students immersed themselves in the world of high technology.
The 11th-grade students were greeted by the Deputy Dean of the Faculty, Sergey Monich, who spoke about the faculty in general, the admission rules, and the advantages of studying at the country's leading technical university.
However, the main event of the day was a series of practical activities. Elena Shcherbakova, Associate Professor of the Department of Micro- and Nanotechnology, led the gymnasium students on a fascinating tour of the department's laboratories. The students were able to see firsthand the unique equipment used for studying elements of microsystem technology. Elena Nikolaevna elaborated on the specifics of the academic process at the university, explaining how fundamental knowledge of physics and mathematics is applied in the design of modern sensors, microchips, and nanostructures. The students eagerly examined samples of finished products and asked questions about employment prospects after graduating from the department's specialties.
A significant response was evoked among the students by the meeting with the Head of the Department "Design and Production of Instruments," Andrey Savchenko. The meeting took place in the prototyping laboratory for three-dimensional models, which is equipped with modern personal computers and 3D printers.
Andrey Leonidovich not only spoke about the theoretical foundations of training specialists at the department but also demonstrated the results of printing complex engineering parts. The students learned how a digital model turns into a real object and where such technologies are applied — from medicine to jewelry and components for control and measuring instruments.
Throughout the visit, the students showed genuine interest. Their questions concerned not only passing scores and entrance exams but also students' research work, opportunities to participate in grants, and international programs. Representatives of BNTU noted the high level of preparation of the Oshmyany students and their thoughtful approach to choosing their future profession.
At the end of the meeting, many students left their contact details to receive additional information about open days and preparatory courses. Thus, the visit achieved its goal: the young people seriously began to consider connecting their lives with the world of high technology and enrolling in the specialties of the BNTU Faculty of Instrumentation Engineering.
