October 21 is the holiday of the Uzbek Language Day. This unique Day is celebrated in Uzbekistan for the second year and it was devoted to the online conference on the theme "Language is a great wealth and invaluable asset of the nation!", held at the Belarusian-Uzbek Institute of Applied Technical Qualifications with the assistance of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in the Republic of Belarus and the participation of BSTU students, students of joint educational programs from our partner universities from Karshi, Samarkand, Tashkent, Namangan and Andijan.
This event was held in an online format. It was aimed at fostering patriotism and pride in their country, development of social and personal competence of students, promotion of internationalism, tolerance, modesty and greatness of their native language. The event was opened by the Director of the Institute, Professor I. Gancherenok who said that the Uzbek language takes the most worthy place in the cultural heritage of humanity, it is the language of the Uzbek people with the great history and it is the language of the New Uzbekistan, which is building the modern generation of Uzbeks.
During the conference students read in Uzbek works of both outstanding and modern poets of Uzbekistan: Muhammad Yusuf, Ikboljon Mirzakarimovich, Erkin Vahidov and others, made translations into Russian. A remarkable poem about love was read by Ahror Tursunov, head of the International Department of the Namangan Institute of Engineering and Technology.
The program examined the heritage of the great representatives of the Uzbek people and analyzed the works that left a deep mark on the culture of the East. One of them is the founder of the Uzbek literary language - Alisher Navoi with his famous work "Khamsa" ("Quinary").
The moderator of this event, methodologist Elizaveta Bayko, read a poem "To Uzbekistan" by the national poet Yakub Kolas, which he wrote during the Great Patriotic War while in Tashkent. The first copy of the collection of Yakub Kolas' poems translated into the Uzbek language was presented by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.
In parallel with our event, a celebratory event was held at the Karshi Institute of Engineering and Economics, where a dictation contest was held on the theme "As long as the language is alive, the nation is alive". In a number of partner Uzbek universities a video-challenge "Let your dignity be high, native language" was launched, in which teachers and students took part.
It is very symbolic that our event was held on the eve of the October 24 presidential election in Uzbekistan. We are convinced that the spirit and guidance received by the Institute are a good basis for the most active participation of Uzbek students in the elections of the Head of the Uzbek state.
