Today, on September 8, a roundtable titled “How to Have Fun and Avoid Problems” was held at the Belarusian National Technical University. At the event, Andrei Prikhodko, a police major and head of the juvenile affairs inspection of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Sovetsky District Administration of Minsk, addressed the freshmen.
At the beginning of the meeting, the students were shown a thematic video that addressed the problems of hitchhiking (dangerous riding on transport), the harm caused by alcohol and drugs, and the basic rules of personal safety. After that, the speaker moved on to an interactive dialogue, in which he thoroughly examined the most pressing issues that concern the freshmen.
Thus, Andrei Prikhodko spoke about the operation of the republican public safety monitoring system. The cameras in Minsk and throughout the republic record not only traffic violations but also any unlawful actions in public places. The image is uploaded to a database, which automatically matches it with photos from social media.
– Then, using manual methods, we establish the person’s identity and place of study – and within five minutes we can identify the offender.
He warned that videos with compromising content published on social media can become grounds for quickly establishing a person’s identity.
The speaker also reminded that displaying Nazi paraphernalia is prohibited in all cases, except for historical TV programs. Andrei Prikhodko also urged students to be careful about likes, reposts, and forwards in messengers: any careless click can be regarded as propaganda of extremism.
The head of the inspection drew the students’ attention to the rules for transferring personal data. The speaker explained that a phone number, a vehicle registration plate, or a facial image are personal data. Disclosing such data without the owner’s consent is illegal. The exception is filming to record a traffic accident, provided that the recording is not published.
The speaker paid special attention to the consumption of alcoholic beverages.
– Even if you haven’t had time to drink, but you’re in a company with an open bottle, this may be classified as an attempt to consume alcohol, and a report will be drawn up.
Andrey Prikhodko listed four criteria for intoxication: slurred speech, strong alcohol smell, loss of orientation, and untidy appearance. If all of these are present, liability is inevitable.
At the end of the meeting, the students asked questions about the new rules for users of personal mobility devices. The speaker explained: if a scooter reaches a speed of over 25 km/h and weighs more than 35 kg, it is considered a vehicle. It is not allowed to ride two people on one scooter unless the design includes a second seat. When renting via the app, the offender is identified using the linked bank card.
In conclusion, Andrei Prikhodko emphasized that the purpose of such meetings is not to intimidate, but to help people adapt and avoid mistakes that could cost them their health, reputation, or freedom.
