The "English Language No. 1" Department of the Faculty of Mining and Engineering Ecology announces enrollment for foreign language courses for the first semester of the 2026/2027 academic year.
We invite all interested individuals—students, master's students, and faculty members. Instruction is provided at levels ranging from Beginner to Upper-Intermediate, alongside two specialized programs: "Academic English" and "Business English."
Classes are conducted by experienced instructors using modern language-teaching methodologies, effectively helping students overcome the language barrier. The training develops and refines skills across all key areas of language use: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Upon completion of the course, participants receive a state-recognized certificate.
Levels of Instruction
The program comprises five stages, allowing each student to begin at a level that matches their actual proficiency:
Beginner (A1) — for those who have never studied English;
Elementary (A1) — for those who studied the language in school but whose remaining knowledge is fragmented and unsystematic;
Pre-Intermediate (A2) — for learners who have mastered basic grammatical structures but lack developed conversational skills;
Intermediate (B1) — for those who can already construct sentences using simple tenses and hold a conversation but wish to speak more confidently and use more complex structures;
Upper-Intermediate (B2) — for those who already speak the language with reasonable fluency. The goal at this level is to achieve speech fluency and the ability to use complex lexico-grammatical structures without consciously focusing on rules.
Specialized Programs
In addition to general proficiency levels, the department offers courses for those who require English for specific professional purposes.
"Academic English" is designed for master's students and faculty members who deliver lectures in a foreign language. In this course, participants will learn the conventions of scientific writing and the structural requirements for written assignments, as well as the academic vocabulary needed to understand and write articles and dissertations and to participate in scholarly discussions and conferences.
The "Business English" course focuses on developing business communication skills. Participants will learn how to draft résumés, reports, and business correspondence, prepare presentations, and conduct negotiations, while also gaining confidence for international business trips and job interviews. The program is designed for students with a proficiency level of Pre-Intermediate or higher.
Course registration will take place on September 17 at 7:30 PM in Room 502 (Building 18a). Classes begin on September 28.
