Since 2010, BNTU has been training engineers in the specialty “Geodesy”. Training is carried out by the department of “Geodesy and Aerospace Geotechnologies” in full-time and part-time shortened (for graduates of USSO institutions) forms of higher education.
Recently, much attention has been paid all over the world to the construction of both socially significant and unique objects. This explains the ever-increasing need for highly qualified geodetic engineers in our country and abroad. The Republic of Belarus has many interesting and unique objects for various purposes: the National Library, the sports and cultural complex “Minsk-Arena”, the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant, etc. in the construction of which the department of “Geodesy and Aerospace Geotechnologies” took part.
The main areas of specialist training are:
studying the device and developing skills in working with special geodetic instruments, including electronic digital ones and those based on satellite positioning systems, providing high accuracy and automation of measurements;
studying calculation algorithms and mastering software products for mathematical processing of measurement results to solve problems on the spatial description of objects on the earth's surface and in near-Earth space;
mastering technologies for receiving and processing materials from remote sensing of the earth's surface obtained by aerospace imaging methods.
BNTU graduates in this specialization can work in engineering and management positions in scientific, design and survey, construction organizations of various ministries and departments, in capital construction departments of regional, district and city executive bodies, specialized enterprises performing cartographic and geodetic work, in higher and secondary specialized educational institutions of the country.
Qualification: surveyor.
Specialty 7-07-0715-01 “Road-building and lifting-transport machinery and equipment” (major: “Lifting-transport machinery, elevators, continuous transport machiness”), the engineers of which are constantly in demand in many sectors of the construction complex of Belarus and other countries, in industry, in transport, in business and in providing service for this equipment.
Training is carried out by the department of “Mechanization and automation of the road construction complex” on a full-time basis for obtaining higher education.
Recently, the prestige of an engineer has grown, who, knowing construction equipment, is able, first of all, to choose for purchase for the construction complex that machine that takes into account all the requirements of constantly improving technologies and, thereby, ensures high quality of work at the lowest cost. Our graduate thoroughly knows the equipment used throughout the multidisciplinary construction complex. In particular, such equipment includes modern elevators, escalators and travelators, installed at unique facilities of the republic, such as the National Airport, train stations, metro, large shopping centers, etc., where our graduate is in demand.
Future engineers receive skills in computer-aided design of parts, assemblies and machines, which gives them the opportunity to successfully work at such enterprises as JSC AMKODOR - the holding’s management company and more than 30 machine-building enterprises in Belarus that produce hoisting, transport and technological machines for the construction complex.
Students of this profile, if desired, undergo training at the military-technical faculty of BNTU and after graduation receive an additional military specialty and officer rank.
The demand for graduates of this specialization traditionally exceeds the number of graduates, and the level of payment is quite high given the required knowledge base.
Qualification – engineer
The training of highway construction engineers is carried out by the “Highways and airfields” department in full-time and part-time forms of education. As part of the “Highway Roads” major, the curriculum provides for the study of a cycle of humanitarian, natural science, general engineering and special disciplines. During their studies, students gain knowledge in the field of highway design, technology and organization of road construction, diagnostics, maintenance and repair of roads and road structures, organization and safety of road traffic, organization and management in the road complex system, ensuring the development of the industrial base of the road sector, production and the use of modern road construction materials, the creation of multifunctional road services and ensuring environmental safety in the road transport complex system.
Broad-based training of engineers in this specialty allows graduates to successfully work in design institutes, road construction departments, road repair and construction organizations, in diagnostic centers for the operational condition of highways, in factories and enterprises producing road construction materials and products. Upon graduation from the university, they will be able to design highways using modern information technologies, conduct research using modern survey methods based on satellite positioning systems, build highways and other road facilities, plan and solve road operational issues, develop new and research of traditional road materials, solve organizational and management problems at enterprises and organizations in the road industry.
At the Faculty of Transport Communications, the educational process is organized using the latest educational technologies, closely linking theory and practice in all fundamental areas of the future professional activity of road engineers.
The theoretical preparation of students is reinforced by educational and practical training.
The creative abilities of students develop through their participation in the research work of departments, scientific laboratories of BNTU, and at branches of the department.
Based on the results of training in the “Highways and airfieldss” major, specialty 7-07-0732-03 “Construction of transport communications,” graduates are awarded the qualification of a civil engineer and a master’s degree.
The graduating departments of the Faculty of Transport Communications operate master's, postgraduate and doctoral studies, which ensures the process of continuous education and obtaining diplomas of highly qualified specialists.
The major “Bridges, transport tunnels and subways” is included in the specialty “Construction of transport communications”. Training is carried out by the Department of Bridges and Tunnels on a full-time basis.
The major was formed by merging three previously existing specializations “Bridges”, “Underground structures, tunnels and subways” and “Maintenance, reconstruction and repair of transport structures”, previously included in the specialty “Bridges, transport tunnels and subways”.
Those who graduate from the university with a major in “Bridges, transport tunnels and subways” can:
- design, build and operate a variety of bridge structures, overpasses, overpasses, complex multi-level intersections, pedestrian bridges and other road, railway and urban transport structures;
- design, build and operate tunnels and metro stations, underground parking lots and garages, transport, pedestrian and collector tunnels, large underground transport and multifunctional complexes, tunnels and structures for new high-speed modes of transport and other underground structures, without which the life of a modern large city is impossible .
- organize the operation of existing transport structures: road and railway bridges, culverts and underground structures, transport and pedestrian tunnels, subways.
The modern level of bridge and tunnel construction is characterized by developed software. In the process of studying such disciplines as: “Information Modeling”, “Automation of the Design of Transport Facilities”, “Computer Design and Modeling in Transport Construction”, coursework and diploma design, students work with software systems Autodesk (Revit), Allplan, Sofistik, Midas. This allows you to quickly and reliably design and calculate structures with the results presented in a 3D model.
Students' works are presented on the department's website (https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1wpw_uG30Va-e8kHaPMLxxHZMZXW2s2KN.
During the learning process, students engage in scientific work, the results of which are published in collections of student scientific conferences and placed in the scientific library. Student research activists receive an activist diploma.
Graduates of specialization can work in research and design institutes, educational institutions, in bridge and tunnel construction organizations, operational organizations, as managers of construction and installation works.
Students study the technology of constructing bridge spans and supports; organizing the proper operation of existing bridge structures, etc.
The construction of above-ground and underground transport communications represents a growing branch of the industry, oriented towards the future, and the development of the underground space of cities is the key to preserving the environment and improving the quality of life.
Operating transport structures require periodic inspections, surveys, tests, repairs, strengthening and reconstruction.
The theoretical preparation of students is reinforced by educational and technological practices.
Qualification: civil engineer.
Degree – Master.
Successful students of all specialties of the faculty, if desired, undergo training at the Department of Military Engineering Training of the BNTU under the reserve officer program of the engineering troops, which allows them to be subsequently distributed to the power structures of the Republic of Belarus.
The graduating departments of the Faculty of Transport Communications operate master's, postgraduate and doctoral studies, which ensures the process of continuous education and obtaining diplomas of highly qualified specialists.
