Yesterday, October 6, 2026, the grand opening of the BELAZ Competence Center took place at the Belarusian National Technical University (BNTU), hosted by the Faculty of Automotive and Tractor Engineering (ATF) in Academic Building No. 8.
The honor of cutting the red ribbon and officially launching the new educational space fell to BNTU Rector Sergei Kharitonchik, BELAZ OJSC General Director Sergei Lesin, and the Dean of the BNTU Faculty of Automotive and Tractor Engineering, Sergei Skirkovsky.
Addressing the audience, Sergei Kharitonchik described the day as truly historic, emphasizing that the center's creation fully aligns with the state's demand for practice-oriented training and global trends in engineering education. In recognition of the successful implementation of this important project, the university head presented a formal letter of appreciation from BNTU to the General Director of BELAZ OJSC.
Following the ceremony, the doors of the new center opened to welcome its first distinguished foreign guests. A delegation from Tashkent State Transport University (TSTU) is currently visiting BNTU. The new Competence Center and the ATF student design bureau were visited by Zhamshed Avliekulov, Head of the TSTU Department of Automobiles and Automotive Operations, and Abduaziz Abdurazakov, Acting Professor at the same department.
Sergei Skirkovsky and Alexander Gursky, Head of the Department of Technical Operation of Automobiles, welcomed the guests and conducted a detailed tour. They explained the new center's capabilities and equipment, demonstrated modern training rigs, and showcased current innovative projects developed by the faculty's students and staff. The visit culminated in substantive working meetings during which the parties outlined concrete plans to further expand their partnership, enhance academic mobility, and exchange best practices in training engineering personnel for the transport sector.
The opening of the BELAZ Competence Center provided a powerful impetus for the development of education at BNTU and, on its very first day, confirmed its status as a sought-after international platform for professional dialogue.
