Logic to the hundredths. Finalist of the “Student of the Year BNTU – 2026” competition on the law of conservation of energy in engineering and creativity.

Уверенность до сотых. Финалист «Студента года БНТУ» Дмитрий Андросенко о законе сохранения энергии в инженерном деле и творчестве

This time, we’ll be getting to know Dmitry Androsenko, a student at the Faculty of Engineering and Pedagogy.

At the casting, Dmitry chose to abandon his affected personas and show his true self — sincere and open. And this strategy paid off: he secured a spot in the finals.

— The decisive ‘hundredth’ factor that made them choose me was my charisma, confidence in my own abilities, and the combination of modesty with ambition.”

When it comes to his own achievements, the future engineer measures progress not by grand titles, but by daily, confident steps forward. Each small step brings him closer to the main goal and demonstrates a real result.

— What was the most significant personal achievement for you?

— Of course, a bright stage for me was the passage to the finals of the "BNTU Student of the Year – 2026". If we talk about sports victories, then I am incredibly proud of meeting the standard of a candidate for master of sports in boxing and success in taekwondo. But my main outcome is the kind of person I am today.

Any serious decision requires a solid foundation, so when choosing further steps, the student is accustomed to rely solely on facts and rigorous reasoning. In his opinion, it is impossible to build a correct system of actions without a clear logical connection.

— When making decisions, I always rely on logic and facts. This is due to the fact that nothing can be confirmed without a certain evidence base. Without logic, it is impossible to find the relationship between things and explain everything correctly.

An engineer’s thinking is based on clear diagrams and drawings, but if you try to design the image of an ideal student, you can’t get by with just pure technical skills. A true professional needs ample room for imagination.

— The basic set of such a mechanism must necessarily include a creative component. I’m convinced that a modern engineer needs to think outside the box in order to design complex objects and equipment effectively. And as a bonus, I’d add a couple of extra hands to be able to do everything at once, an inexhaustible supply of energy, and an impeccable memory.

— Engineering thinking is about precision, while creativity is about freedom. How do you manage to combine these two spheres?

— Combining such different spheres is difficult, because the law of conservation of energy also applies here: if something is gained in one place, it will inevitably be lost in another. Nevertheless, clear priorities help me. I carry the engineer’s mindset — calculations and meticulousness in solving problems — and the artist’s intuition, the ability to improvise, and the skill to notice things that others miss.

The young man considers a strong imagination and a fountain of ideas, where precise planning is harmoniously intertwined with improvisation, to be the main tool in creating creative ideas. According to the participant, it is impossible to make a truly high-quality and lively plan without the latter.

In the language of movement and choreography, you can tell a story no less precisely than with the help of complex graphs and drawings. For his final performance, Dmitry is preparing a special visual solution, where every gesture has its own deep meaning.

— My act is a dance. I want to show how free and flexible a guy with an engineering mindset can be. Every movement will be precise to the millionth of a second, with the end of one gesture seamlessly flowing into the beginning of the next. The goal is simple — to give the audience an atmosphere of deep peace and sincere smiles.

The choice of such a sophisticated concept deeply reflects the inner world of Dmitry himself — calm, balanced and confident in his every step. This is a great opportunity for him to demonstrate his true values to the public.

— Do you have a ritual before going on stage?

— I don't have any special superstitious rituals. Just before I leave, I take a deep breath, exhale, and tell myself: "Everything will work out, you're the best, go and do your best." After that, the fear goes away, and only the stage remains.

Thank you Dmitry for the interview! We wish him to successfully show what "measuring success to hundredths" means to him.
