Negotiations were held at the BNTU “Polytechnic” Scientific and Technological Park with the management of the GTL Group (Myanmar)

В НТП БНТУ «Политехник» прошли переговоры с руководством группы компаний GTL Group

Today, on August 21, a working meeting was held at the BNTU “Polytechnic” Scientific and Technological Park between representatives of the Belarusian National Technical University and the GTL Group delegation — one of the leading companies in Myanmar. It is worth noting that the meeting took place as part of the visit of the President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Min Aung Hlaing, to the Republic of Belarus. Yesterday, two memoranda of understanding were signed between BNTU and the leading technical universities in Myanmar – Yangon Technological University and Mandalay Technological University.

The GTL Group delegation was headed by the chairman of the group of companies, Dr. Sein Thu. The negotiations were also attended by the company’s director, Joe Saw, and Danila Kisiev, the representative of GTL Group’s interests in Belarus and Russia. At the meeting, BNTU was represented by Timur Matyushinets, Vice‑Rector for Ideological and Educational Work; Svetlana Pankova, Deputy General Director of the NTP “Politekhnik”; Alexander Svistun, Dean of the Faculty of Physics and Technology; Nikolai Vishnyakov, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Materials Science; and Alexander Malyarevich, Head of the Department of Laser Engineering and Technology.

The visit programme was opened by an introductory tour of the technology park. The guests from Myanmar were presented with the key areas of the park’s activities and its innovative developments.

“We have 7 areas of focus in our company: IT technologies, construction, media and film production, tourism, textile production, healthcare, and trade. And now we are starting the first phase of establishing a technology park. So I see that we will be able to cooperate extensively with you,” said Sein Thu.

After the tour, negotiations were held to discuss the prospects for cooperation. The parties discussed the integration of BNTU’s scientific developments into the technological processes of GTL Group, as well as the possibilities for jointly implementing projects in the education markets of both countries.

“We would like to expand our knowledge in the field of optics and would like to send students to you for training starting next year. We would also very much like to create a technology park with the help of your university, featuring new technologies aimed at producing medical equipment,” Sein Thu proposed.

Following the meeting, the parties outlined plans for the future and agreed on new formats of cooperation. The main outcome of the negotiations was the genuine interest of the guests: the Myanmar delegation was truly inspired by the opportunities and infrastructure of BNTU. The partners proposed numerous new joint projects, noting the enormous potential for a mutually beneficial partnership. To strengthen the cooperation, representatives of GTL Group invited the Belarusian delegation to pay a return visit to Myanmar, where the parties will be able to work out the details in detail and launch joint projects.
