We continue getting acquainted with those who very soon will have to surprise the audience on the stage of the Belarusian National Technical University. In a new material, a student of the Faculty of Mining and Engineering Ecology, Kirill Agievich, tells about himself. The finalist told which detail became his lucky ticket at the casting and what unexpected performance he prepared for his final appearance on stage within the competition.

Many are sure that a successful student of a technical university is always about strict order and discipline, but when a creative nature takes on the matter, familiar templates are erased. Kirill is sure that it was precisely the ability to combine in himself the precision of an engineer and artistic drive that became the very reason the jury at the casting gave preference to him.
— I think the jury chose exactly me because I know how to surprise. I do kettlebell sport, so during the performance I showed elements of juggling a kettlebell, as well as the ability to fire up the audience and remain calm at the same time.
The young man measures his progress by concrete and tangible things. The finalist said that his personal scale for measuring achievements is the results of training that he shows at competitions, grades in his record book, and helping people. Thus, one of his significant successes the guy named meeting the standard of Master of Sports in kettlebell sport, which became proof of his persistent training and discipline.
— Are you used to acting based on logic and facts or on intuition and your own gut feeling?
— I always act differently; in one case I can rely on logic and facts, in another — on intuition. In most cases I follow the first option. This manifests itself in sports, for example, in doing training. To get a result, you need not just to train a lot, but systematically, gradually increasing the load, in order to ultimately come to a certain result. At the same time, it is very important to take into account your own gut feeling and look at your condition and capabilities in order to do everything successfully.

A strict analysis of the training process shows: behind every confident step stands a clearly thought-out internal system. If we design the image of an ideal student as a complex mechanism, it becomes obvious which particular “parts” make it work without failures.
— To the mechanism of the “ideal student” I would add parts that are responsible for perseverance, confidence and discipline. The creative component would definitely be in this student, because without it there will be no development. In my opinion, this is something without which it will not be possible to connect incompatible things; it allows one to adapt to the surrounding world and various situations.
This mechanism in Kirill’s case works flawlessly. The young man easily balances between serious study at the faculty and stage art.
— Do you have a creative skill that you possess to perfection, literally “to the hundredths”?
— I won’t say that I possess a certain creative skill to perfection, but I always work on the role of the character I want to transform into. It is best when this character suits me in spirit, then it is easier to play. I came to this myself, thanks to understanding the peculiarities of my character and behavior; also, in childhood I always liked playing various heroes, and in this regard nothing has changed now.
Following a clearly constructed script noticeably makes life easier both on stage and in everyday life. However, any unexpected departure beyond the usual plan the finalist regards as an excellent chance to show flexibility of thinking.
— It is certainly easier for me to move according to a previously prepared plan, but this is life, so often everything that we plan in advance does not go as planned. In that case, one has to improvise, but fortunately, I know how to cope with any situations.

The tension of the pre-final days is growing, but behind the scenes one can already feel the anticipation of a real celebration. Having worked out his creative act down to the smallest nuances, Kirill prepared a surprise for the audience, capable of transporting everyone into the atmosphere of a carefree childhood.
— I will go on stage with a creative act “The Bremen Town Musicians”. I chose exactly this concept for my performance because I want to cause delight in the audience, and for my idea with its realization to be remembered. Since I am an engineer, I realize the technical component of the act through the images of the characters. I plan to evoke smiles and nostalgia in the audience with my act, since it is a fairly recognizable childhood cartoon.
The choice of such a concept characterizes the participant himself in the best possible way. For the student, this is the best opportunity to prove that he is capable not only of conquering technical sciences and lifting weights, but also of being a bright, charismatic leader who is not afraid to stand out from the crowd.
— Do you have a ritual before going on stage?
— I do not have any particular ritual before going on stage; I simply set myself up for the performance, imagine how it goes, visualize my movements, facial expressions and mood, calculate possible scenarios, get a portion of positive attitude, and go out.
We thank Kirill for the interesting conversation! We wish him to give the hall that very warm nostalgia and show that his path to success is truly calibrated to the hundredths!
