BNTU and Qingdao University of Technology: development of cooperation in the field of green construction

БНТУ и Университет технологий Циндао: развитие сотрудничества в области зеленого строительства

From May 30 to June 06, 2026, a delegation of the Belarusian National Technical University consisting of the Head of the Department of Economics, Construction Organization and Real Estate Management of the Faculty of Civil Engineering Ekaterina Khmel completed an internship at one of the world's leading technical universities, the Qingdao Po University of Technology (Qingdao, People's Republic of China).

For your information: Qingdao University of Technology was founded in September 1950 and was called Qingdao Institute of Chemical Technology. Since 2002, the name has been changed to Qingdao University of Technology. Qingdao University of Technology has 1,880 employees, 624 of whom are professors; there are approximately 23,000 students, including about 1,000 postgraduate and doctoral students. The university has 19 colleges, 7 doctoral programs, 49 master's programs, and 55 bachelor's programs. Qingdao University of Technology is ranked 161st by the Chinese University Alumni Association (CUAA) and 167th by the Shanghai Ranking of Chinese Universities Soft Science / ARWU). In the 2026 U.S. News & World Report ranking, it is ranked 106th in China and 737th globally.

The internship was organized by Professor Zhang Shenxi (Department of Management Engineering). The purpose of the internship was not only to improve the skills in the field of green technologies, but also to develop joint initiatives in the scientific field. Thus, on 01.06.2026, a meeting of the BNTU delegation with the Deputy Dean of the College of Management Engineering at Qingdao University of Technology, Wang Peng, and Professor Meng Yuan was held.

The parties discussed promising areas of cooperation, including BIM technologies for the design of energy-efficient and passive houses, the principles of implementing a smart city system that collects real-time data for monitoring, management, and predictive maintenance of the urban environment, and the possibility of organizing internships for young scientists. During the negotiations with the college's management, they also discussed the participation of BNTU and Qingdao University of Technology in international scientific events in a digital format and outlined topics for joint publications in Q1-Q2 journals.

A very informative visit was to the Smart City Construction Management Research Center, which works in three areas (construction management, investment and financing in construction, supply chain management), and the BIM Laboratory, where the application of BIM solutions at all stages of the building life cycle from concept to operation was demonstrated.

As part of the internship, the BNTU delegation also got acquainted with the iconic construction sites and construction enterprises of Qingdao.

Ronghua (Qingdao) Construction Technology Co., Ltd. It was founded in 2017 and is a high-tech enterprise that actively uses modern digital technologies in production management, development, and creation of ultra-low energy consumption products.

The main products of the enterprise are ready-made reinforced concrete prefabricated elements, including energy-efficient construction materials (walls with sandwich insulation, panels for finishing), which are produced on 5 lines for the production of prefabricated reinforced concrete products. In addition, the plant produces prefabricated concrete pipes and segments for tunnels (including metro and underwater tunnels).

Each finished product of the enterprise receives an RFID tag, which contains all information about its design, production and installation, which ensures full transparency and quality control at all stages of production and then during construction. BIM technology allows you to visualize complex nodes and manage costs effectively. The factory uses highly automated production lines for cutting and bending of reinforcement. Products Ronghua (Qingdao) Construction Technology Co., Ltd. allows you to build low-energy buildings and passive buildings that meet German standards PHI.

The China-Germany Green Ecology Park in Qingdao, which has been a symbol of China-Germany cooperation in sustainable development since 2010. It serves as a clear demonstration of how high-tech and ecology can coexist harmoniously to create a comfortable urban environment.

Elite residential complex "Green Garden. Serendipity" cost 1 m² from 9000 yuan, apartment area from 107 m² (3-4 rooms). The developer is "Green Quiet Manor China-Germany" from Sino-German United Group Co., Ltd. a large state-owned company established in 2011 with government support for the development of the special economic zone Sino-German Ecopark in Qingdao. Complex "Green Garden. Serendipity is part of a larger Smart City ecosystem that is managed through a centralized platform and includes smart apartment climate control, integrated security, intelligent maintenance, and the use of digital twins for building lifecycle management.

The office and construction site of Shandong Hisense Construction Engineering Co., Ltd., a company specializing in providing services in the field of construction engineering (design, construction and repair work, landscaping, design and installation of security systems, as well as the sale of electrical equipment), was visited.

Visiting these facilities supplemented the theoretical part of the internship with practical examples of implementing complex engineering solutions. The Faculty of Civil Engineering at BNTU expresses its gratitude to all Chinese colleagues for their warm welcome and fruitful cooperation.
