We invite you to participate in the scientific and practical seminar "The Antiplagiat System as a Tool for Assessing the Originality of Scientific Papers: An Expert Approach" on June 4, 2026, at 2:00 PM. The event will be held in room 204 of BNTU's main building (65 Nezavisimosti Ave.). It will be useful for all authors of scientific papers—master's students, postgraduate students, doctoral students, university faculty, editors and reviewers of scientific journals, research staff, and others. In other words, anyone whose work is in any way related to scientific texts, and therefore, to the detection of plagiarism.

The seminar will be useful for all authors of scientific papers—master's and doctoral students, doctoral students, university faculty, editors and reviewers of scientific journals, research fellows, and others—all those whose work is in some way related to scientific texts, and therefore, to the detection of plagiarism.

At the seminar, together with the participants, we will:

Discuss academic ethics and the problem of inappropriate plagiarism in scientific texts;
Discuss the difference between legal and illegal plagiarism;
We'll explore why the "percentage approach" is untenable and harmful, and why expert review is essential;
We'll explore how the Antiplagiat system detects plagiarism and citations;
We'll learn about the Antiplagiat system's new features—the Duplicate Detector, the Professional Vocabulary module, a new approach to checking tables and bibliographies—and their impact on the results of checking scientific papers for plagiarism;
We'll discuss whether self-citation constitutes plagiarism and explore how the Antiplagiat system detects self-citations;
Using specific examples, we'll examine how to correctly interpret the results of checking scientific articles and dissertations;
We'll explore how the Antiplagiat system identifies text that is artificially generated (the system's new feature—AI content) and what an expert should do if it is detected;
We'll use specific examples to demonstrate the ability to identify matches not only in text but also in illustrations;
We'll learn about the most common errors encountered during the implementation and use of the Antiplagiat system;
We'll learn how to edit a full plagiarism check report;
We'll find out where to receive expert training, and more.

The seminar is free for the Belarusian National Technical University.

ATTENTION!!! Pre-registration is required to participate in the seminar.

The seminar speaker is Irina Borisovna Strelkova, official representative of Antiplagiat in Belarus for training; PhD in Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor; and Associate Professor of the Department of Professional Education Technologies at the Republican Institute of Professional Education.

The seminar lasts two hours, including a Q&A period.
