As part of the systematic career guidance program conducted by the Belarusian National Technical University, Yulia Leonik, an assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Machine Components, organized and led a meeting for students of the Stemlab Children's Educational Center in Baranovichi. The online event focused on introducing students to the world of technical education, in-demand engineering specialties, and the opportunities offered by the country's leading technical university.
The goal of the career guidance meeting was to develop a conscious approach in students' future career choices and to introduce them to the benefits of studying at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (FME). Yulia Leonik provided participants with a detailed overview of the university's range of programs, the specifics of technical education, and the broad prospects for professional growth in engineering.
Particular emphasis was placed on the role of graduates of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in modern industry. "Specialists who graduate from our faculty are key figures in industrial enterprises across the country." "They ensure technological sovereignty and innovative development in mechanical engineering," noted Yulia Leonik, emphasizing the importance of the competencies acquired at the International Scientific Forum.
The meeting was held in a lively dialogue format: students actively asked questions about admission requirements, student life, and the demand for engineers in the labor market, receiving comprehensive answers from a representative of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Machine Components.
For reference: the event took place at the STEMLAB educational center in Baranovichi, one of the first supplementary education institutions in Belarus to implement cutting-edge STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) methods. The center, part of the international STEMLAB network and operating since 2015, specializes in in-depth study of the exact sciences, robotics, and programming for children aged 6 to 17. STEMLAB's pedagogical philosophy is built on a practice-oriented approach: students don't just memorize theory; they solve real-world problems, implement their own projects, and even participate in robotics tournaments.
Holding such meetings is part of BNTU's broader strategy for interacting with regions and engineering classes, as career guidance is a crucial link between school, university, and a successful career.
