A delegation from the School of Metallurgy of North-Eastern University visited BNTU

Визит делегации школы металлургии Северо-Восточного университета в БНТУ

From April 20 to 27, 2026, representatives from the School of Metallurgy at Northeastern University (China) visited Belarusian National Technical University (BNTU). The purpose of the visit was to discuss cooperation in education, science, and joint research.

The Chinese delegation included Associate Professor Zhong Ming, Research Fellow Yu Bin, and PhD student Yuan Gong. As part of the visit, on April 20, the Chinese colleagues met with Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Yuri Nikolaychik, during which the parties discussed current and future collaboration.

Also, on April 21, the delegation enjoyed a cultural program, including a sightseeing tour of Minsk.

The visit on April 22 included a tour of the facilities and research resources of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Technology (FME), specifically the Department of Powder Metallurgy, Welding, and Materials Technology and the Foundry Technologies research and innovation laboratory.

The key event of the visit took place on April 23. On that day, a joint scientific seminar, "New Materials and Technologies within the Framework of SVU-BNTU Collaboration," was held. The event was organized by Igor Ivanov, Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Technical Sciences; Evgeny Demchenko, Head of the Department of Powder Metallurgy, Welding, and Materials Technology; Fyodor Panteleenko, Professor of the Department of Powder Metallurgy, Welding, and Materials Technology; Leonid Dolgy, Associate Professor of the Department of Foundry Machines and Technology; Cong Wang, Professor of the SVU School of Metallurgy; and Zhong Min.

The following papers and reports were presented during the seminar:

Zhong Min presented a paper, "Brief Information about Northeastern University, as well as Underwater Arc Welding of Shipboard Steel and Its Metallurgical Principles";
Yu Bin presented a paper titled "Study of Crack Suppression Mechanisms, as well as Strengthening and Toughness Enhancement during Heat Treatment of Nickel-Based Heat-Resistant Alloys Produced by Electron Beam Additive Manufacturing Using Flux-Cored Wire."
BNTU representatives presented reports on the influence of welding and heat treatment parameters on the structure of high-chromium steels and also provided an overview of manufacturing technologies for technical ceramics.
Postgraduate students Yuan Gong, Duan Hongyan, and Liu Zhixin presented progress reports on their dissertation research.

Working meetings on the ongoing collaboration within the framework of the existing NFENK-BRFFI project T26KI-016, the development of a long-term work plan, and a detailed discussion of the new joint project were held on April 24 and 25. On the final day of the visit, April 27, a final discussion of the visit's results and a summary of the joint work took place, after which the delegation departed for the airport.
