As part of efforts to strengthen inter‑university cooperation and improve the quality of training highly qualified personnel, from August 21 to 22, the delegation of the Belarusian National Technical University visited the Joint Belarusian‑Uzbek Intersectoral Institute of Applied Technical Qualifications (SBUMIPTK) in Tashkent. The delegation included Pavel Shirvel, Dean of the Faculty of International Cooperation, and Elena Khodan, Director of the SBUIMIPTK.
The main goal of the visit was to develop cooperation with higher education institutions in Uzbekistan in priority areas of scientific and technical interaction, to enhance the competitiveness and image of Belarusian education abroad, and to further strengthen scientific and educational ties.
During substantive negotiations, Pavel Shirvel and Elena Khodan discussed in detail the institute’s current curricula and their updating. Special attention was paid to integrating advanced Belarusian educational standards with the needs of the labor market in the Republic of Uzbekistan, strengthening the practical component, and ensuring seamless continuity of programs for training highly qualified engineering personnel.
An integral part of the visit was getting acquainted with the progress of construction and repair work at the institute’s facilities. The BNTU delegation familiarized itself with the large‑scale reconstruction of the SBUMIPMTK academic building and also assessed the pace and quality of the transformations in the student dormitory. Creating a modern, safe, and comfortable environment both for classroom instruction and for student accommodation is an absolute priority for the institute’s management.
On Friday, August 21, as part of career guidance activities, the director of the SBUMIPMTK, Elena Khodan, together with the institute’s executive director, Sanjar Mirzaliev, visited specialized school No. 190 in the Mirzo‑Ulugbek district of Tashkent. During the visit, the delegation familiarized itself with the conditions created for students and assessed the work of the professional clubs and projects organized at the school, which are aimed at early development of practical and technical skills among young people. This step lays the foundation for forming a high‑quality and motivated cohort of future institute applicants.
A highlight of the meeting was the inspection of the new technopark and the discussion of issues related to its prompt commissioning. This facility is of great importance for the implementation of innovative technologies, the conduct of joint applied research, and the acquisition of unique practical skills by students in conditions that are as close as possible to real production processes. The technopark is intended to become a focal point for talented young people and a platform for joint projects with industrial partners from the two countries.
In addition to work at SBUMIET, the trip also addressed issues related to expanding cooperation with other leading universities in Uzbekistan. Following the visit, the parties outlined common trends and strategic development vectors.
The agreements reached will serve as a solid foundation for further joint work aimed at modernizing infrastructure, implementing advanced pedagogical technologies, and training specialists ready to meet the challenges of the future economy.
