On April 17, representatives of the Faculty of Mining and Environmental Engineering met with senior students, including those majoring in engineering, from G.I. Shevyakov Secondary School in the urban settlement of Ross and discussed employment prospects in the mining industry after graduation.
For reference: The mining industry in the Grodno Region specializes in the extraction of non-metallic materials, chalk, clays, and sands. A key enterprise is Krasnoselskstroymaterialy OJSC (Volkovysk District), which supplies raw materials to the cement industry. Peat and sand and gravel mining are also well-developed in the region.
During the meeting, Elena Strelkova, Associate Professor of the Department of Environmental Engineering, deepened the students' knowledge of environmental engineering by discussing the recycling of industrial solid waste, emphasizing Belarus's participation in addressing global environmental issues and signing agreements on environmental compliance. The students were also introduced to the key areas of work in the environmental engineering profession, from preparing technical documentation to field and laboratory research. Anna Lukyanova, a lecturer in the Mining Department, told the students more about their admission and study opportunities at BNTU. Students from the department, Alexandra Semashko, Alexander Kashkov, and Artem Zhulego, led the students in a "Question and Answer" game, where they answered prepared questions to reinforce their knowledge.
