On Tuesday, March 31st, one of the most ambitious events in the student cultural life will kick off at the Belarusian National Technical University: the student creativity festival "BNTU Spring 2026."
Preparing for this event takes months. While some are writing scripts, finalizing character details, and assembling sets, others are rehearsing, honing their vocal and choreographic skills. During the competition days, work is in full swing behind the scenes: costume designers are adjusting outfits, sound engineers are achieving balance, and the participants are rehearsing their routines over and over again to ensure there's not a single false note on stage.
"Rehearsals are always embarrassing: awkward glances in the mirror or at the empty auditorium, the fear of making an unnecessary move. But there are no strangers in the audience. If someone falls, the whole cast picks them up. If someone can't find the rhythm, we stop and wait." Rehearsals are filled with emotions: fatigue gives way to excitement, and disappointment to joy. Some nervously repeat a routine in the corner, others laugh to relieve tension, and some simply close their eyes and listen to the music to remember this moment forever. "It's amazing," said Daria Yaroshevich, responsible for the cultural and social sector of BNTU Dormitory No. 8, about the difficulties of preparation.
Each number on the Vesna stage is the result of the work of an entire team: set designers, costume designers, choreographers, vocalists, musicians, and actors—all of whom study at BNTU. It is here that new stars are born, and the audience becomes one—with chants, flags, and deafening support.
Four competitive days of Vesna lie ahead, each revealing a new facet of the festival participants' talents. This year's festival schedule is as follows:
March 31st—Song Festival;
April 1st—STEM Festival;
April 2nd—Instrumental Music Festival;
April 3rd – Dance Festival;
April 7th – Gala Concert.
Song Festival
On this competition day, the Polytechnic University space is filled with a thousand and one notes. In one evening, the stage features both solo performances and musical group numbers. On Song Day, the students don't just sing with a microphone; they develop stage personas, create a mood with costumes, and master lighting to transform each song into a miniature story. Some perform with a guitar and leave the audience speechless; others bring an entire choir onto the stage, sending shivers down their spines. The audience sings along to familiar tunes and discovers new compositions. Even those who are usually silent in the audience begin to sing along.
STEM Festival
A day dedicated to the art of student miniature variety theater is the most unpredictable and sparkling day of the festival. They say STEM is the hardest to prepare: scripts are rewritten dozens of times, sets are created from scrap materials, and rehearsals last until the early hours. All this is done to create a true fairy tale on stage, where fictional characters become cult favorites at the university, and familiar childhood stories unfold with unexpected drama or profound philosophical questions. The students don't just joke—they create scenes and use props in ways that evoke a range of emotions in the audience, from surprise to laughter. No one is indifferent here: the audience applauds every successful joke. This is a day when laughter and empathy for the characters in the short plays create an atmosphere of unity.
A Celebration of Instrumental Music
The stage comes alive with the sounds of electric guitars and violins, drums and synthesizers. The students create true mini-concerts from their performances, where musical worlds are embodied through live sound, thoughtful imagery, and the play of light. BNTU musicians create entire performances, where every element—from costume to staging—is carefully considered. Think engineers can't create? A Celebration of Dance
Energy, fluidity, synchronicity, and complete immersion in the character—this is what characterizes this competition day. From folk motifs and mythological stories to contemporary interpretations and street styles, each faculty proves that dance is more than just movement, it's a story told through the body. The atmosphere in the hall changes instantly: silence during moments of emotional intensity gives way to a storm of applause after each spectacular performance.
Gala Concert
The gala concert is the culmination of four days of competition and the main evening of the festival. It features the most striking numbers, already beloved by audiences. The evening also includes a gala awards ceremony, where the winners of the categories are announced and the faculty receiving the Grand Prix is named.
