Safety comes first: BNTU hosts a preventive dialogue platform

В БНТУ прошла профилактическая диалоговая площадка

Today, on July 16, BNTU hosted a dialogue platform titled "Ensuring Life Safety: From Cyberattacks to Road Rules." The event was organized for university employees to raise awareness about personal and public safety. The meeting was held as part of a single day of information.

The meeting was moderated by Sergey Bichikov, Deputy Head of the Department of Law Enforcement and Prevention at the Soviet District Department of Internal Affairs in Minsk, and Ekaterina Shavanova, Deputy Head of the Center for Ideological Work and Youth Affairs at the Belarusian National Technical University. The speakers covered a wide range of topics, from road safety to the protection of personal data on the internet. The participants discussed how to recognize the tricks of cybercriminals, stay vigilant in the digital environment, and avoid falling victim to scams.

Sergey Bichikov emphasized the increasing prevalence of cybercrime each year. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, more than a third of all registered crimes in Belarus are cybercrimes:

 – In 2023, it was 21.5%, in 2024, it was already 27.5%, in 2025, it was 29.7%, and in the first five months of 2026, this figure reached 33.4%, exceeding a third of all registered crimes in the country. In the current year of 2026 alone, there are approximately 359 cybercrimes committed in Belarus every week, which translates to more than 50 attacks per day. The alarming trend is the "rejuvenation" of victims, with young people dominating the age structure of victims. The group aged 18 to 29 accounts for 29.3% of all cases of digital fraud.

During the meeting, participants also discussed how to protect themselves in the digital space, avoid becoming a victim of cybercriminals, and remain vigilant on the roads.

“Not only the well-being of each individual, but also the sustainable development of society as a whole, depends on the level of knowledge, personal responsibility, and awareness of each citizen,” concluded Sergey Bichikov.

Let us remind you that security begins with each of us!
