A delegation from St. Petersburg Mining University visited BNTU

Делегация Санкт-Петербургского горного университета посетила БНТУ

Today, on July 16, BNTU was visited by students and teachers from St. Petersburg Mining University of Empress Catherine II. The delegation was welcomed by Andrey Kologrivko, Dean of the Faculty of Geology and Environmental Engineering, Sergey Skirkovsky, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, and Anastasia Arabey, Dean of the Faculty of Mining. Opening the meeting, Andrei Kologrivko emphasized that the training of personnel in the Republic of Belarus for the mining industry, mechanical engineering, and automotive industry is aimed at making the educational process more practical and acquiring additional competencies through international academic exchanges.

During the discussions, the deans of the faculties discussed the importance of close cooperation with industrial enterprises and organizations.

Among the partners are such giants as Belaruskali, Granit, BELAZ, MAZ, and MTZ. Educational centers and departmental branches are being established, where students work on real production tasks. Students are assigned to enterprises with a sufficient set of competencies and practical skills, – said Andrey Andreevich.

Students from the St. Petersburg Mining University of Empress Catherine II arrived in Belarus to complete their practical training at BELAZ. Ivan Zvonarev, Associate Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the St. Petersburg Mining University of Empress Catherine II, shared the details of the university's pilot project for training engineers, which will launch in 2023. The main goal of the project is to make the educational process at the university more practical. The professor from the Mining University also noted that students receive practical skills not only in Russia, but also in Belarus, particularly at BELAZ.

 – It is especially valuable that as part of their practice, students have the opportunity to get acquainted with BNTU, and this experience provides a good foundation for their future studies.

The students were given practical tours of the faculties to familiarize themselves with the material resources and training programs of our specialists. Bogdan Vdovenko, a student at St. Petersburg Mining University, shared his impressions:

– I really liked Minsk – it's a clean, cultured city, and it's a pleasure to be here. As for the internship, it's been informative: we haven't been working with our hands yet, but we've finally seen how BELAZs and MAZs are assembled. Today, we visited a tractor factory. I'm gradually gaining an understanding of the conveyor system, the assembly stages, and how everything is organized from the inside. I really enjoyed my time at BNTU, and I appreciate the convenient location of your buildings. During the week of practice, I most remember the acquaintance with production and the awareness of the scale of Belarusian mechanical engineering – the same BELAZs impressed. At BNTU, I would be happy to return to communicate more with other students. The educational process of training students for the mineral raw materials and fuel and energy complexes, mechanical engineering, and automotive industry is very interesting.

Thank you to the delegation for the visit! We are always happy to see our colleagues from St. Petersburg at our university!
