To develop engineering education, the Belarusian National Technical University is intensifying its work with school students in the regions. The next stage of this strategy was the career guidance event "Technical Education — the Flagship of the Country's Economic Development. Baranovichi — the Industrial Center of the Brest Region," held on March 5th at the city's Gymnasium No. 1.
The event gathered about 300 senior students, most of whom are enrolled in physics and mathematics-focused classes and engineering classes. These young people are the main pool of personnel for the region's industrial enterprises, and the university's task was not only to introduce them to in-demand specialties but also to help them decide on their future workplace.
BNTU was represented by deans and lecturers from six faculties: Automotive and Tractor, Power Engineering, Mechanical and Technological, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Instrumentation Engineering. The Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Sergey Nikolaevich Kovshar, and a first-year student of the Faculty of Instrumentation Engineering, Arseniy Tkach, addressed the audience. The young man is studying under a targeted program sponsored by the 558th Aircraft Repair Plant in Baranovichi and used his personal example to show the advantages of this form of training: guaranteed employment and integration into the production process while still studying.
The event gave school students the opportunity to communicate directly with university representatives and potential employers. Such meetings will help future applicants make an informed choice in favor of technical specialties necessary for the country's economic development.
