The Sports Engineering Faculty at the Belarusian National Technical University (BNTU) is the youngest among its peers in the CIS countries, established to educate engineering professionals specifically for the sports industry. Since its inception, the faculty has aimed to supply the domestic sports sector with highly skilled engineers capable of contributing to scientific research, production technology, and organizational management within industrial and sports complexes. These include facilities specializing in the manufacturing and maintenance of sports training equipment, referee information systems, specialized inventory, instruments, and equipment for specific purposes.
Graduates of the Sports Engineering Faculty are currently in demand for operational roles in existing and newly commissioned cultural and sports complexes. Effective operation of technological equipment at these sites now relies heavily on qualified engineering personnel with robust training, knowledge of economic and management methods, and proficiency in utilizing information technology tools.
The faculty's engineering education is overseen by the Sports Engineering Department, which includes leading experts in sports equipment manufacturing, automation of the training process, and technical support for sports facilities. Faculty members include top professors from BNTU with experience in integrating innovative engineering technologies into sports practices. Throughout their education, students engage in practical training at modern sports complexes and companies involved in supplying, installing, and servicing engineering and information systems equipment from leading global manufacturers.
The integration of educational and scientific-technical technologies in the sports industry is supported by the experimental platform at the Multi-profile Cultural and Sports Complex "Minsk-Arena," where students learn the latest comprehensive information and technical management systems for sports facilities.
Additionally, the faculty includes the Department of Physical Education and the Department of Sports, staffed by 90 instructors responsible for the university's physical education curriculum and enhancing students' sports proficiency. Among the faculty members of these three departments are 1 Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, 12 Candidates of Sciences, 1 Honored Coach of the Byelorussian SSR, 3 Honored Coaches of the Republic of Belarus, 1 Honored Master of Sports, 4 International Class Masters of Sports, 40 Masters of Sports, 5 International Category Judges, 4 National Category Judges, and 11 National Category Referees.
