Do the Right Thing: Sports and Technology Faculty

Поступай правильно: спортивно-технический факультет

We are completing our introduction to the faculties of the Belarusian National Technical University as part of the "Do the Right Thing" series. Let's learn more about the Sports and Technology Faculty (STF).

What is the Sports and Technology Faculty

The Faculty of Sports and Technology is the first engineering faculty in the Republic of Belarus and neighboring countries that trains specialists for the field of physical culture and sports.

The Department of Sports Engineering actively collaborates with the country's leading sports facilities. Students undergo practical training and internships at such flagship facilities as the Minsk-Arena, Chizhovka-Arena, Dynamo National Olympic Stadium, Palace of the Republic, Republican Center for Olympic Training in Water Sports, and others. Graduates are successfully distributed and work in organizations that operate large sports complexes, in companies that supply, install, and service engineering equipment, as well as in industrial and research divisions. Many continue their careers at these iconic facilities, ensuring their smooth operation.

Yaroslav Potachits, Dean of the Faculty of Sports and Technology, noted that today, the training of engineers for the sports industry goes far beyond classical drawings.

— Students at the Faculty of Sports and Technology acquire a unique combination of classical engineering training and specialized knowledge. Key disciplines include technical means of athlete training, biomechanics, automated refereeing systems, information technologies in technical support of physical culture and sports, design and engineering of sports equipment, theoretical foundations of sports equipment construction, and economics of innovative projects in sports. Practical skills include the design and operation of engineering systems in sports facilities, working with modern equipment from leading manufacturers, developing prototypes of devices, analyzing data from sensors, and participating in real projects to modernize infrastructure.

The dean also emphasized that the uniqueness of the faculty lies in the fact that graduates receive not just a diploma, but a ticket to a highly sought-after market segment.

— Studying at the Faculty of Sports and Technology provides a unique combination of engineering and sports education. The main advantages include: a high-demand profession — training of unique engineers for the sports industry; a unique practice base — availability of experimental sites at such facilities as Minsk-Arena, Palace of the Republic and others; broad employment opportunities — graduates are in demand both at industrial enterprises and in organizations serving large sports facilities and spectacular events; developed infrastructure — students have the opportunity to combine studies with maintaining a high level of physical training thanks to the university’s powerful sports base

Advice to applicants

I advise all applicants to choose a specialty of their dreams before submitting documents, and not to go along with fashionable trends. Ask yourself honestly, "Where can I best serve my country in the future? — said the head of the faculty.

Student life at the Faculty

Students of the Faculty of Sports and Technology know how to win not only in theory, but also on the court, stage, and in life.

The Faculty's athletic achievements speak for themselves. As part of the Battle of Faculties 2025, the STF team won second place in mini-football and became the winner in tug-of-war.

The Sports and Technology Faculty is not just about team spirit. There are also notable individual victories in the achievements list. Ekaterina Fedosenko won the Best Head of the Class award in the Best Study Group of BNTU 2026 competition, and Alina Galavachenko, a student from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, won the title of First Vice-Miss in the Miss BNTU 2026 competition.

This concludes the "Do the Right Thing" section for this year. It's time for applicants to make the right choice, and we welcome them to the Belarusian National Technical University!
