In early June, an interactive educational quest for 5th and 6th grade students of State Educational Institution “Gymnasium No. 50 of Minsk” was held at the Faculty of Information Technologies and Robotics of BNTU.
The schoolchildren not only tested their knowledge in physics, mathematics and programming, but also immersed themselves in the atmosphere of technological creativity. The event was organized to popularize exact and engineering sciences among younger school students, as well as to introduce them to the study areas offered at FITR.
During the quest, the teams passed several thematic stations, completed tasks and received keywords for the final phrase.
The station organized by the Department of Technical Physics aroused particular interest among the children. Head of the department Svetlana M. Kachan demonstrated visual experiments and phenomena related to everyday life. The participants answered questions that helped them better understand why ice cream melts, where rain comes from, why the sky is blue, what happens to water in different states and how magnets work.
At the mathematics station, the schoolchildren had to solve 11 examples and problems. Each correct answer corresponded to a certain letter of the alphabet. After completing all the tasks, the participants had to form the word “INFORMATICS.” The tasks required attentiveness and basic knowledge of arithmetic, and the young participants successfully coped with them.
The creative station was dedicated to the topic “The World of the Future.” At the end of the quest, the schoolchildren presented their drawings to the jury, explaining how they saw a world created with the help of science and technology.
At the final station, the schoolchildren completed practical tasks in Scratch, a visual programming environment popular among beginners.
After completing all the stations, each team assembled the phrase: “Informatics creates a new world.” The schoolchildren were then invited to complete this sentence in their own way so that it reflected the spirit of their team. The young participants showed creativity and suggested their own versions, including: “Informatics creates a new world — a world of knowledge,” “...a world of friendship and technology,” and “...a world where everyone can invent.”

The quest showed that schoolchildren’s interest in exact sciences and technologies can be successfully developed through game-based and interactive formats.
The participants and organizers express special gratitude to the staff of the Department of Technical Physics of FITR and personally to the Head of the Department, Svetlana M. Kachan, for the vivid and memorable experiments connected with real life.
The Faculty of Information Technologies and Robotics plans to continue holding educational quests for schools in the capital. The next events are scheduled for autumn 2026.
