On May 26, 2026, students of FMTG, as part of getting acquainted with the history of the Republic of Belarus and its significant architectural monuments, visited Lida Castle.
The castle was founded in 1323 by the Grand Duke of Lithuania and Ruthenia, Gediminas, as a stronghold on the road between Novogrudok and Vilna at the border of Slavic and Lithuanian tribes.

Over many centuries, the castle suffered damage during wars and fires.
On January 22, 1940, Lida Castle was granted the status of an architectural monument. From July 1941 to July 1944, a prisoner-of-war camp of the 56th Moscow Military Division was located on the castle grounds. After the end of the war, in the 1970s, a decision was made about the need to restore the castle; however, restoration work was suspended in 1990 due to a lack of funding and resumed only by 2010.
Students were given a unique opportunity to get acquainted with reconstructions of various eras of the castle, learn its history, and walk through the medieval galleries.

The continuation of getting to know the city of Lida was a sightseeing tour, during which such attractions as the Baroque Exaltation of the Holy Cross Church, the Cathedral of St. Michael the Archangel in the Neoclassical style, and the famous Lida Brewery were visited.
We express our gratitude to the Primary Trade Union Organization of BNTU students for an interesting and useful event that allowed students to broaden their horizons and get better acquainted with our country.
