Today, May 16, the Belarusian National Technical University held its final open day of the year. Guests enjoyed a faculty exhibition, presentations from companies recruiting staff, dozens of workshops, quizzes, and other activities, as well as numerous consultations on successful admissions.
From early morning, the BNTU campus was filled with the joyful voices of prospective students. Even before the official opening, students began exploring the faculty and company booths, exploring specializations, and participating in interactive activities. An equipment exhibition was set up in the parking lot, and in the courtyard of the main building, in addition to the booths, a field kitchen, a refreshment bar, and a photo zone were available.
The opening ceremony began at 9:30 AM. BNTU First Vice-Rector Andrei Safonov addressed the applicants with a welcoming address:
"We are pleased to welcome you to the Belarusian National Technical University. Today, in such a wonderful, cozy atmosphere, we are holding an open day, which includes not only educational but also engaging activities. I would like to point out that we traditionally hold these events in close collaboration with our partners—our country's leading industrial enterprises. And you, dear applicants, are the main integrators in this connection between industry and education. I am deeply convinced that through a full understanding of their future profession and specialty, using examples from specific enterprises, truly motivated and prepared applicants will come to our university. This open day is precisely designed for this purpose. Dear friends, I would also like to remind you that this year, the five-year quality plan, which has been introduced and outlined in our country, is gaining momentum." In this regard, I would like to emphasize that we are obliged to convey to our youth the high level of our production and engineering training. I believe the ideal scenario is one in which a quality applicant—and I emphasize this—chooses a quality company, for which they must graduate from a quality university. I can assure you that the Belarusian National Technical University is a quality university that will provide any applicant, even the most demanding, with the highest level of modern training in engineering fields—in the fields you, dear applicants, have chosen: mechanical engineering, construction, architecture, energy, and many others. Dear friends, I sincerely wish us all to find each other and do so today. I sincerely wish us success in this important and mutually beneficial endeavor. Welcome to BNTU!
Afterward, the creative teams of the BNTU Department of Culture took the stage. Vibrant musical performances and dances created a truly festive atmosphere.
BNTU graduates and students also addressed the prospective applicants, including Maxim Novik, a race car driver, member of the MAZ-SPORTauto sports team, and head of the team's design department; Maxim Tsaruk, a Belarusian chess player, international grandmaster, two-time Belarusian men's champion, world junior rapid chess champion, member of the Belarusian national chess team, and a fourth-year student of the Faculty of Information Technology and Robotics; and Diana Dudko, a first-year student of the Automobile and Tractor Engineering Faculty and a graduate of the National Children's Technology Park.
Maxim Novikov shared memories of his student years, how his engineering education helped him achieve high results in life, and discussed his participation in automobile competitions and how he manages to combine elite sports and a leadership position.
Maxim Tsaruk, in turn, spoke about his athletic title and the priorities it opens up, how his education at BNTU helps him in chess tournaments, and about the students who share his passion for chess.
Diana Dudko spoke about her studies at the National Children's Technopark and her path to admission to BNTU.
During the event, applicants also had the opportunity to try their hand at a variety of activities: from operating a hydraulic excavator and VR technology in mechanical engineering to architectural sketching and identifying mineral types.
Anyone interested could take a free career guidance test, receive advice from BNTU Admissions Committee representatives on admissions and targeted training, and take commemorative photos, videos, and drawings at special areas featuring a robot artist, a spinner, and a photo booth.
For those interested in Chinese culture, the Confucius Institute for Science and Technology of BNTU presented its interactive stand, where master classes were held.
Workshops on painting Peking Opera masks, cutting out paper patterns (jianzhi), and handkerchief twirling were held.
One of the program's highlights was the equipment exhibition, which showcased Belarus tractors and products from companies that employ staff, such as Minsk Automobile Plant (OJSC), AMKODOR (OJSC - the holding's management company), BELGEE, and others.
A performance by cadets from the military-technical faculty also took place. The future military personnel demonstrated hand-to-hand combat techniques, earning the sincere admiration of the audience.
Throughout the day, applicants also took part in tours of the faculties and academic buildings. They visited classrooms, laboratories, and research centers, where they could ask questions of faculty and experience what it's like to be a real student.
For those considering admission through a targeted program, a meeting with the management of Minsk Automobile Plant (OJSC - the holding's management company) BELAVTOMAZ was held in the main building.
A meeting between representatives of companies recruiting personnel, students in specialized classes, and applicants with BNTU management was also held in the main building. BNTU First Vice-Rector and Deputy Chairman of the Admissions Committee Andrey Safonov and Svetlana Gribkova, Deputy Secretary of the Admissions Committee and Deputy Director of the Institute for Integrated Forms of Learning and Education Monitoring, addressed the attendees. They presented key information on BNTU's 2026 admissions campaign and answered all of the guests' questions.
In the afternoon, consultations and training sessions on "How to Get 100 Points on the Centralized Examination and Centralized Testing" were held in Russian, Belarusian, and English, mathematics, and physics. Applicants applying for targeted training received separate consultations. College graduates were able to receive consultations on the fundamentals of engineering graphics, materials science, construction materials, electrical engineering, information technology, and other disciplines.
Guests of the Open Day eagerly shared their impressions. So, Kirill said he's already decided on his major.
"I really like the BNTU Open Day. All the majors are represented here, and you can familiarize yourself with them. You can learn about each major that interests you. For example, I've almost decided which one I'll apply to; I learned about the targeted admissions program. I plan to pursue a career at BNTU; I really like this university. I plan to apply to the "Micro- and Nanosystems Engineering" or "Information and Measuring Instruments and Systems" major in the Instrument Engineering Faculty."
Yaroslava also shared her impressions of her visit to BNTU.
"I really liked everything, I received a lot of useful information, the staff explains everything: about the passing scores, the majors. I plan to apply to the "Engineering Economics" major. It interested me because it seems interesting and promising. I'm drawn to engineering majors and everything related to them."
