Из жизни ушел почетный ветеран БНТУ, профессор кафедры «Мосты и тоннели» Геннадий Пастушков

On Saturday, May 9, Gennady Pastushkov, honorary veteran of BNTU, Professor of the Department of Bridges and Tunnels at the Faculty of Transport Communications, Doctor of Technical Sciences, passed away at the age of 88.

Gennady Pavlovich was born in Minsk on August 12, 1937, shortly before the war, so as a child he had to see many of the horrors of the war years. One of the scariest episodes of that time for Gennady Pastushkov was an eye injury: as a child, he was knocked out by a fragment of a German grenade, which the enemies threw through the window of the house. Both in childhood and adulthood, the professor treated veterans with great respect and reverence for Victory Day. And the fact that he left on this particular holy day has a special, very symbolic meaning.

His whole life was closely connected with Minsk: its history and people. In 1959, Gennady Pastushkov graduated with honors from the Belarusian Polytechnic Institute, and from 1963 until the last years of his life he worked at the BNTU.

In the early 1980s, with the direct participation of the professor, working drawings of centrifuged columns were developed, experimental designs were made, and for the first time in world practice they were implemented during the construction of the 7-storey engineering laboratory building of the Voronezh NPP.

From 1994 to 2016, Gennady Pavlovich was the scientific secretary of the BNTU, a member of two Councils for the defense of dissertations. By the decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus dated March 21, 2011, he was awarded the medal "For Labor Merits".

For twenty years, from 1996 to 2016, Gennady Pavlovich worked as the head of the Department of Bridges and Tunnels at BNTU, and after that as a professor at the department. Gennady Pavlovich was the successor of the famous engineering dynasty of the Pastushkovs, which has been inextricably linked with BNTU for several generations. The founder of the dynasty was Gennady Pavlovich's father Pavel Pastushkov, who graduated from the Belarusian State Polytechnic Institute with a degree in Industrial and Civil Engineering almost a hundred years ago, in 1929. His father's business was later continued by his son, Gennady.

Professor Gennady Pastushkov has published more than 200 scientific papers, developed 22 author's projects with experimental designs, protected by 5 copyright certificates and 2 patents of the Republic of Belarus.

For his many years of work, the professor was awarded high awards: the first degree diploma of the BSSR State Committee for Construction, the Prizes of the Council of Ministers of the BSSR and the Republic of Belarus, the medal "For Labor Merits", the honorary badges "Outstanding Adukacy", "Ganarov darozhnik Belarus" and others. In 2020, he was awarded the title of Honorary Veteran of the BNTU.

The Belarusian National Technical University expresses its sincere condolences to the family and friends of the outstanding Professor Gennady Pastushkov.
