On April 24–25, the Engineering Economics Department of the Mechanical Engineering Faculty of BNTU hosted the annual economics quest, "Path to Success." Participants included students from secondary vocational schools and schoolchildren interested in engineering and economics.
For two days, the department hosted teams from colleges and schools, who completed thematic challenges and learned about the university environment and the specifics of engineering and economics. Faculty and students from the Engineering Economics Department served as team organizers and mentors.
Tatyana Aleksandrovna Sakhnovich, Head of the Engineering Economics Department, PhD in Economics, and Associate Professor, welcomed the participants:
"Engineering and economics education today plays an important role in training specialists capable of combining technical knowledge with analytical thinking and management skills." The unique quest methodology developed by Larisa Mikhailovna Korotkevich added a special atmosphere to the event. The game format allowed participants to demonstrate their financial, economic, and technical literacy, as well as teamwork skills.
Six specialized stages were prepared for the teams:
Research;
Experimental Design;
Analytical;
Creative;
Production;
Creative.
During these stages, participants solved practical problems related to engineering, economics, and analytics. Students from the department's groups 10302122 and 10302222 moderated the thematic stations, familiarizing the teams with the test rules and coordinating work at checkpoints.
First-year students from group 10302225 also provided coordination support. Thanks to the organizers' coordinated efforts, the teams were able to quickly navigate the university and successfully complete all stages of the competition. "I served as a student mentor, and it was especially rewarding to watch the teams navigate the challenges we had prepared. This event was a valuable experience not only for me but also for the students in our department. We aimed to demonstrate to prospective students the potential of the engineering and economics major, its relevance, and its potential," noted Alexandra Yemelyanova. "I saw my role not only in introducing the participants to the faculty, its facilities, and the department's activities, but also in supporting students who are seeking their professional path in the technical and economic fields."
Based on the results of the competition among college students, the prizes were distributed as follows:
• 1st place – teams "Star Machine Operators" (Bobruisk State College of Mechanics and Technology) and "Technologists of the Future" (Minsk Polytechnic College);
• 2nd place – team "Elite of Success" (Borisov State Technical College);
• Third place went to the teams "Smart Girls" (Borisov State Technical College) and "Marketing Titans" (Minsk City Mechanical Engineering College).
Diplomas were also awarded in special categories: "Aesthetics in Detail"; "Technological Breakthrough"; "Iron Logic"; "Best Business Card"; "Engineering Triumph"; and "Analytics Guru."
The "Path to Success" quest once again confirmed the high interest of young people in the engineering and economics program and became an important platform for future applicants to develop their professional skills.
