Students from the Engineering Economics Department visited the V.I. Kozlov Minsk Electrotechnical Plant.

Студенты кафедры «Инженерная экономика» посетили Минский электротехнический завод

On April 17, a tour was organized for third-year students of Group 10302223 from the Department of Engineering Economics (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering). Accompanied by their academic advisor—Senior Lecturer Lyubov Vasilievna Butor—the students visited the V.I. Kozlov Minsk Electrotechnical Plant, one of Europe's largest manufacturers of electrical equipment.
Upon their arrival at the facility, the students were welcomed by Tatyana Veleshko, a personnel training engineer, and design engineers Pavel Mikhalovich and Egor Demchenko from the Chief Design Department. The hosts presented a miniature scale model of the plant and recounted the enterprise's history, which dates back to 1953. The students were shown various types of transformers produced by the plant, and the operating principles behind them were explained to facilitate a better understanding of the manufacturing processes.
Following this introductory session, the tour proceeded to the plant's production workshops, where the students had the opportunity to observe every stage of the technological process involved in manufacturing various types of transformers (both dry-type and oil-filled). The guides highlighted specific design features and engineering solutions incorporated into the transformers. A particular highlight was the demonstration of one of the largest units in the TM(N) series—a 6,300 kVA transformer—which was being prepared for shipment to one of the country's largest industrial enterprises, OJSC BELAZ.
During the tour, the students were also briefed on topics directly relevant to their field of study: key product markets, sales volumes for specific transformer models, product pricing, and other commercial aspects. The discussion also touched upon the plant's current need for new personnel—a subject that naturally piqued the students' interest.
From a technical standpoint, the tour proved to be an exceptionally informative experience for the students. It enabled them to acquire new knowledge and reinforced their understanding of the practical necessity and market relevance of the skills they have already begun to master.
On behalf of the Department of Engineering Economics and the students of Group... We would like to express our gratitude to the management and staff of the V.I. Kozlov METZ for their hospitality and for the fascinating tour, and to wish them every success in the realization of their future plans.
