Happy Women's Day, dear ladies!

С наступающим Днем женщин, дорогие дамы!

On Sunday, March 8, the Republic of Belarus celebrates Women's Day, a holiday of spring, beauty, and tenderness.

"Dear girls and women of the Belarusian National Technical University!

Please accept our sincere congratulations on the bright spring holiday of Women's Day! This holiday has always held a special place in the life of our university. The role of women in preserving and developing Belarusian society is invaluable. It is no coincidence that the first Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus, dated January 1, 2026, declared this year as the Year of the Belarusian Woman.

This decision at the state level highlights your exceptional role in shaping our future. For BNTU, you are not just the beautiful half of the team, but a powerful driving force. Your talents, scientific discoveries, and pedagogical skills contribute to the reputation of the country's leading technical university.

You inspire us with your professionalism and dedication, and your care and support create an atmosphere of warmth and understanding. You excel in handling the most complex tasks, from managing large projects and advancing engineering science to creating a cozy environment and preserving traditions in your families. Your wisdom, patience, and loyalty to your university deserve our deepest respect.

On this beautiful spring day, I wish you good health, happiness, harmony, love, family well-being, and new achievements. May each day bring you joy and satisfaction from your accomplishments. Let your life be full of bright events, the smiles of your loved ones, and professional success!

Rector

History of the holiday

The tradition of celebrating March 8 in our country has deep roots and a rich history. The holiday owes its origins to the international women's rights movement, as the decision to celebrate it annually was made in 1910 at a conference in Copenhagen, initiated by Clara Zetkin. Initially, this day symbolized the solidarity of women in their struggle for economic and social equality.

For the first time at the international level, the holiday was celebrated in 1911, and the date we are used to, March 8, was finally fixed in the calendar after 1914. During the Soviet period, this day acquired a state significance, and since 1965, it has been an official holiday. In 1975, the status of the holiday was approved by the United Nations.

In sovereign Belarus, March 8 is known as Women's Day. On this day, the streets are filled with flowers, and every family and workplace expresses sincere gratitude to women for their wisdom and generosity of spirit. Additionally, this year, which has been declared the Year of the Belarusian Woman in our country, brings a special significance to the holiday. This decision once again highlights the invaluable contributions of our female compatriots to society, their talent for creation, and their ability to inspire new achievements.

 BNTU on this day

In anticipation of the spring holidays, students and employees of the Belarusian National Technical University organize a series of events to celebrate the beautiful half of the Polytechnic.

Traditionally, festive events are held in dormitories and academic buildings: student government activists and volunteers of BNTU greet girls and teachers with flowers and postcards, creating a festive mood in the morning. In the halls of the main building, instrumental compositions are performed by talented students of the Department of Culture of BNTU.

The culmination of the celebration is a festive concert in the auditorium. Creative groups of the university take part in it, presenting vocal and choreographic performances to the audience. Such moments of unity emphasize that BNTU is not only about academic routine and scientific achievements, but also about a large, friendly family.

We also congratulate the beautiful half of our university. May your life be filled with joy, the smiles of your loved ones, and bright moments. Stay healthy, loved, and happy!
