Yesterday, on July 2, the Science and Technology Park of BNTU “Polytechnic” was visited by the Minister of Technological Education of the Government of National Stability of Libya, Fart Khalil.The purpose of the visit was to get acquainted with the activities of BNTU and discuss mutually beneficial cooperation.
In the best Belarusian traditions, the Minister was met by the folk song ensemble "Kakhanachka" of the BNTU Department of Culture. The guest also received welcoming words from First Deputy Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Bakhanovich and Rector of BNTU Sergey Kharytonchyk.
Then, Fart Khalil was invited to a guided tour of the technopark's innovative developments exhibition. Heorhi Viarshyna, General Director of the Science and Technology Park of BNTU “Polytechnic”, presented the technopark's products and information on current areas of the technopark's work to the Minister.
After the tour, the guest shared his thoughts on further cooperation of Libya with institutions of higher education in Belarus:
– Cooperation between Libya and Belarus in the field of education is planned to be developed in the near future. Fruitful cooperation with the Belarusian National Technical University is also expected. The level of education in Belarus has exceeded all my expectations, and until recently I had no idea that this area was developing at such a rapid pace.
Alexander Bakhanovich also commented on the interaction with Libya:
- Since 1983, we have been training specialists for the Libyan economy in a variety of areas. First of all, these are engineering and technical, medical specialties and specialties related to defense capabilities, protection of national security, and so on. Today, the Head of State has set the task to bring our relations in all directions to a new level. Education is a state–forming industry for any country. The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Development of Libya is showing great interest in training specialists for the economy of this country.Today, following the results of the visit, we will sign a memorandum of cooperation between our two countries. This will be the foundation of our provision of the regulatory framework. Next, we plan to conclude a number of inter-university agreements and corresponding roadmaps, where we will prescribe the joint training of specialists.
The program of the visit also included negotiations. During the meeting, Sergey Kharytonchyk presented Fart Khalil with information about the university's activities and its cooperation with Belarusian manufacturing enterprises and foreign institutions of higher education. Yuri Nikolaychik, Deputy Rector for Academic Affairs, and the deans of the faculties spoke about the sought-after technical specialties of BNTU.
The Minister, in turn, thanked the representatives of the university for the informative presentations and noted that the Ministry of Higher Education of Libya would soon send proposals on future cooperation to the Belarusian side.
