Today, on November 5, an open lecture "The World of Information Technologies" was held at the Belarusian National Technical University, which was conducted by an honorary graduate of the Belarusian Polytechnic Institute (now BNTU), Doctor of Technical Sciences Vladimir Labunov.

Before starting the lecture, the speaker's achievements and scientific research were presented to the audience. Thus, Vladimir Labunov is an internationally recognized specialist in the field of micro- and nanoelectronics, including in the development of silicon-carbon component base of information and communication systems, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, member of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Chief Researcher of the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics. He was awarded the Orders of the October Revolution and the Red Banner of Labor, the medal of honorary graduate of the BPI.

At the lecture, students and teachers of the Faculty of Instrument Engineering first of all got acquainted with the components of the concepts of information technology and society. In his speech, Vladimir Arkhipovich also drew attention to the importance of processing information received in the information field of society.
– What is important in this information society? The spread of a manufactured product fundamentally changes society and the world where we live. Today there is a large amount of information and a strong need to process this information.

The speaker explained many concepts within the framework of the topic in simple language, sharing his experience in studying them.
– A computer is a very complicated thing, but when I was first taught computer science in America, they showed me a picture that explained it all very simply. It consists of memory, a central processing unit, and input and output of information. If in this architecture we consider the CPU and memory as the brain of the computer, then the input and output form the connection between these two components.

Teachers and future engineers of the Faculty of Instrument Engineering had a unique opportunity to learn about the scientific activities of the professor and the ideas that became a breakthrough in microelectronics firsthand.
