A solemn event dedicated to the Day of Belarusian Science was held at BNTU

В БНТУ состоялось торжественное мероприятие, посвященное Дню белорусской науки

Today, on January 25, a solemn event dedicated to the Day of Belarusian Science took place at the Belarusian National Technical University.

For reference: annually, in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus, on the last Sunday of January, the professional holiday of scientists of our country is celebrated – the Day of Belarusian Science.In 2024, the festive events are held under the slogan "Science, innovation, quality".

The first Vice-Rector of BNTU Andrey Safonov was invited to the stage for a welcoming speech.

Congratulating those present on their professional holiday, Andrey Ivanovich presented high awards from the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus to employees who have made a significant contribution to the scientific activities of BNTU.Thus, the holders of certificates of honor from the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus for significant personal contribution to the development of science and innovation on the Day of Belarusian Science became:

  • Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Pedagogical, Candidate of Technical Sciences Alexei Drobysh;
  • Deputy Head of Academic Affairs, First Deputy Head of the Military Technical Faculty, Candidate of Technical Sciences Igor Yankouski;
  • Deputy Director of the Branch of BNTU “ Research Polytechnic Institute” Victor Kusyak.

Then Vice-Rector for Research BNTU  Ksenia Yakushenko and Chairman of the Higher Attestation Commission of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Guchok made welcoming remarks.

Then the head of the Department of Materials Science in Mechanical Engineering of the Faculty of Mechanics and Technology, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Valery Konstantinov made a report on the topic "Energy- and resource-saving improvement of a number of technologies for chemical and thermal treatment of steels and alloys".It should also be noted that Valery Mikhailovich was granted a grant by the President of the Republic of Belarus in the field of science for 2023.

After the report, Ksenia Valentinovna took the stage again to present a number of awards to university employees:

  • nomination "Best Research Unit" – Scientific Research Testing Laboratory of Welding, Related Technologies and Non-destructive Testing (head – Artem Litvinko);
  • nomination "The best innovative division" – Research and Innovation Center for Automated Control Systems in Thermal Power Engineering and Industry (Head - Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Alexey Sednin);
  • nomination "The best experimental unit" – Scientific Research Center for Optical Materials and Technologies (Head – Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Viktor Kisel);
  • nomination "The best Scientific School of 2023" is a scientific school in the field of mathematical modeling and development of highly efficient resource–saving technologies for mechanical and physico-technical processing and assembly of mechanical engineering products (head – Corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Valery Sheleg).

Dmitry Stepanenko, Professor of the Department of  “Design and production  of devices”, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor, was recognized as the winner of the competition "The best young Scientist of BNTU 2023" in the nomination "Instrumentation".

Of course, the holiday dedicated to the Day of Belarusian Science could not do without honoring the best students and postgraduates of the university.So, the winners of the competition "The best research student of BNTU 2023" were recognized:

  • nomination "Development of mineral deposits" – Nikita Veremeychik;
  • nomination "Construction" – Igor Kalinovsky;
  • nomination "Transport" – Alexandra Maksimovich;
  • nomination “Economics”  – Anastasia Posvenchuk;
  • nomination "Metallurgy"  – Ilya Rakov.

The winners of the competition "The best graduate student of BNTU 2023" were:

  • nomination "Technical Sciences" – Egor Zhukovsky;
  • nomination "Economic Sciences" – Anastasia Zhevlakova;
  • nomination "Earth Sciences" – Valentina Kuzmich.

During the event the creative teams of the BNTU Department of Cultural Affairs created a festive atmosphere with their bright and colorful performances.

Congratulations to the staff and students of BNTU with well-deserved awards and wish everyone new achievements in professional and scientific activities.
