Department : Water supply and sanitation

The Department was established in 1955 to train specialists in the field of water supply and sewerage, which largely determines the level of social well-being, sanitary safety, culture and public health.
Content of Educational Programs
At the first stage of higher education, the Department trains civil engineers in full-time and part-time modes of study in specialty I-70 04 03 "Water Supply, Wastewater Disposal and Water Resources Protection" and specialty 7-07-0732-02 "Engineering Networks and Equipment of Buildings and Structures". Specialization: "Water Supply, Wastewater Disposal and Water Resources Protection" (since 2023), as well as engineering economists in the full-time mode of study in the specialization I-27 01 01 04 «Economics and Organization of Production (Municipal and Water Management)» and specialty 6-05-0718-01 "Engineering Economics". Specialization: "Municipal and Water Management" (since 2023).
At the second stage of higher education (Master's degree studies), the Department trains Master's degree students in full-time and part-time modes of study in specialty 7-06-0732-01 «Construction». Specialization: «Energy Construction».
The Department of «Water Supply and Wastewater Disposal» has trained more than 5,000 engineers and engineering economists in full-time and part-time modes of study. They work at various enterprises, organizations and institutions specializing in the design, construction and operation of water supply and wastewater disposal systems for populated areas, industrial and agricultural enterprises. Graduates of this specialty also work in research and environmental organizations and government authorities.
Many graduates of the Department have become heads of major water supply and sewerage associations and enterprises.
The high professional level of engineers in this specialty is determined by the significant creative potential of the Department's teaching staff.
The Department organizes practical training at modern operating and under-construction water supply and wastewater disposal systems and water protection facilities of the Republic of Belarus. Students have the opportunity to participate in research activities. Student scientific conferences are held annually, and the best works are submitted to the national competition. Students are involved in research projects under State Research Programs and contracts with enterprises of the Republic of Belarus, as well as in the implementation of international programs and projects. Students also participate in the international environmental movement.
The Department employs experienced highly qualified teachers and well-known scientists, including Professor Kolobaev A.N., Doctor of Technical Sciences, as well as Candidates of Technical Sciences Gruzinova V.L., Dubenok S.A., Anufriev V.N., and Mayorchik A.P.
The Department's teachers are members of a number of international and national scientific and technical councils and associations and actively participate in international conferences, congresses and symposia on hydroecology, water management, water supply and wastewater disposal.
The Department's staff are authors of a number of monographs, textbooks and study guides in the fields of water supply and wastewater disposal, hydraulic engineering, rational use and protection of water resources, and other areas.
The Department's staff participate in the development of regulatory legal acts (RLA) and technical regulatory legal acts (TRLA) in the fields of water management construction, water supply and wastewater disposal, and water resources protection. In particular, the Department's teachers participated in the development of the Water Strategy of the Republic of Belarus for the period up to 2020, as well as in the development of a number of construction standards, technical codes of established practice and standards.
