The department was established in 1955 to train specialists in the field of water supply and sewerage, which largely determines the level of social well-being, sanitary security of culture and the health of the nation.
Content of educational programs
At the first stage of higher education, the department trains civil engineers on a full-time and part-time basis in the specialty I-70 04 03 "Water supply, sanitation and protection of water resources" in the specialization I-70 04 03 01 "Water supply and sanitation systems", and on full-time education of engineers-economists in the specialty I-27 01 01 04 "Economics and organization of production (municipal and water management)"
At the second stage of higher education (magistracy), the department trains masters in full-time and part-time forms of education in the specialties "Construction" and in the specialty "Economics and Organization of Production"
More than 5,000 engineers have been trained by the Department of Water Supply and Sanitation on full-time and part-time courses, who work in various enterprises, organizations and institutions specializing in the design, construction and operation of water supply and sanitation systems for settlements, industrial and agricultural enterprises. Graduates of this specialty also work in research, environmental organizations, government bodies.
Many of the graduates of the department became leaders of large associations and water supply and sewerage enterprises.
The high professional level of engineers in this specialty is determined by the significant creative potential of the teaching staff of the department.
The department organizes practices at modern operated and under construction water supply and sanitation systems, water protection facilities of the Republic of Belarus. Students have the opportunity to participate in research work. Student scientific conferences are held annually, the best works are submitted to the republican competition, students are involved in the implementation of research work on the SPNI and contracts with enterprises of the Republic of Belarus, in the implementation of international programs and projects. Students participate in the international environmental movement.
The department employs experienced highly qualified teachers and well-known scientists, including three professors Mikhnevich E.I., Levkevich V.E., Kolobaev A.N., who have a doctorate in technical sciences, as well as candidates of technical sciences Anufriev V.N. ., Mayorchik A.P.
The teachers of the department are members of a number of international and republican scientific and technical councils and associations, take an active part in the work of international conferences, congresses and symposia on the problems of hydroecology, water management, water supply and sanitation.
The employees of the department are the authors of a number of monographs, textbooks and manuals in the field of water supply and sanitation, hydraulic engineering, rational use and protection of water resources and others.
Employees of the department take part in the development of regulatory legal acts (NLA) and technical regulatory legal acts (TNLA) in the field of water management construction, water supply and sanitation, water resources protection. So the teachers of the department took part in the development of the Water Strategy of the Republic of Belarus for the period up to 2020, a number of technical codes of established practice, standards.
