Department : Economics and Logistics named after Correspondent Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Doctor of Economical Sciences, Professor R.B. Ivuts

The Department of "Economics and Logistics, named after a corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Doctor of Economical Sciences, professor R.B. Ivuts" (hereinafter - the Department), was established on 1 September 2012 on the basis of the Department of "Economics and Management in Transport". It is currently one of the leading departments of the faculty and university. It is staffed by 22 teachers, including 3 PhDs in economics, 3 professors and 9 associate professors; as well as teaching and support staff consisting of 7 people. The history of the department began in 1969, when at the engineering and economic faculty was created the department "Economics and organization of automobile production and motor transport".

In 1990-2025 The department was headed by Roman B. Ivuts - doctor of economics (1990), professor (1992), honored worker of education of the Republic of Belarus (2015), corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (2021). Since December 2025, the department has been given his name.

For a long time, the department has been training specialists in the following specialties and specializations: "Economics and management in road transport" (qualification - engineer-economist); "Economics and Management in Air Transport" with the qualification of an engineer-economist; "Organization and management of the enterprise" with the qualification of the organizer of production (training was carried out on the basis of secondary specialized economic education); "Commercial activities in the market of goods and services in transport" with the qualification of an economist-merchant; "Accounting, analysis and audit in transport" with the qualification of an accountant-economist; "Evaluation activities in road transport" with the qualification of appraiser engineer (since 2007).

Today the department trains engineers-economists, engineers-economists-logisticians and masters in the following specialties:

• 1-27 02 01 «Transport Logistics» (area 1-27 02 01-01 «Transport Logistics (Road Transport)»);
• 6-05-0718-01 «Engineering Economics» (profilization «Transport»);
• 6-05-1042-01 «Transport Logistics» (profilization «Transportation and Logistics Systems and Supply Chain Management»);
• 7-06-0718-01 «Engineering Business» (profilization «Transportation and Logistics Activities»).

The department pays great attention to the research work of students. A student scientific conference is held annually. Many student scientific works win prizes at various republican and international olympiads and competitions. Students get the opportunity to publish their scientific research in print. Much attention is paid at the department to the training of highly qualified specialists through training in the magistracy, postgraduate and doctoral studies, where not only graduates of the department enter, but also representatives of enterprises and organizations of various sectors of the economy of Belarus, as well as other countries (China, Syria, Uzbekistan, Armenia, etc.). The highly professional work of the staff of the department is evidenced by honorary diplomas and various certificates of administration and the trade union committee of the BNTU, as well as other organizations of both the republic and other countries. Over the past three years, under the leadership of Ivut R.B. three Ph.D. dissertations were defended in the specialty 08.00.05 - Economics and management of the national economy. In the work of the department "Economics and Logistics" an important role is assigned to two branches at the transport enterprises of the republic. Currently activeis a branch of the department on the basis of JSC "Belmagistralavtotrans" .
